I was thinking always that chinese is very difficult and it would be the last language in the world that I want to learn since it sounds quite difficult.
whooa....(crying)and i don't know good enough english,which seems to me a lot easier...but chinese??..
I love the country(china)is one of the great culture and history from world...i even plan to visit...but to learn chinese???...
What you think? Is chinese going to be like English and computer that everyone needs to know? Have you ever think of learning that?

Never hear of this before. Is it true that Chinese is going to be like English? All i heard is they are developing all softwares in their own language for their convenience.
I never thought of learning Chinese or i don't have any idea of learning it in the future.

I also think I want to learn Chinese language and I like to learn Cantonise Language. I think about the chinise that you told I think most chinese did'nt like English. So, if you want to visit their country you must know their language first. I also think the chinese is same as japenese because they dislike English. But, I think only some of their citizen speak englsh there. They like their own language and they think if you want to go there you must speak in their language because they hate English.

It is not entirely correct to say Chinese hate English language. In modern cities like Beijing and Shanghai you'll be surprised to find many Chinese fluent in Mandarin and English, though less so in less prominent cities. I think Chinese are very fast learners because they are trying their best to fit into the world picture, to be a respected rising power. Now even the Japanese and Koreans are attracted to learn Mandarin and dig into its long history.

I would love to learn Chinese and it's on my 'to-do list'.Yes, I have heard that Chinese and german are very difficult languages to learn, but that's just an opinion and I would never know unless I try it out for myself.I would learn just to know if it's as hard as they claim, lol.Just kidding.I want to learn Chinese because I think it's an important language.
Once I begin learning ,it shouldn't be that intimidating thereafter. Moreover, I have some very nice Chinese friends .So,I could always count on them for help. It's going to be an important languages in the time to come.

Yes, every new endeavour seems an impossibility till it's done, especially when the public opinion wants us to believe that it's difficult.Beginning is half the work done as it dilutes our fear of failure.

I am a native Chinese speaker.I can also speak a little English. I find that if you can speak English, then Chinese is quite easy to learn. Because in Grammer Chinese and English are very similar.Chinese grammer is even simpler than the English grammer.I find Chinese grammer easier than European languages. The verbs have no tense changes and the pronouns have no changes in cases. The only difficulty is that Chinese characters are really difficult to write for foreigners. But once you have learned over 100 Chinese words, you will find no difficulty.

in my opinion chinese is as easy as english as long as you do not treat it too serious. in china, a famous man named liyang creats crazy english, which makes english learning easier . i think, you may try crazy chinese. it'll be excellent! i suggest you try to remember ten chinese words and some simple sentences per day, and read them aloud freely. you'll soon gather a lot in your head. so some time later you'll find chinese not difficult as you thought. by the way we started learning chinese just this way from childhood. wish you success

Hey come on friends! Chinese is not that difficult to learn. There are many Europeans who are good at Chinese right?! Once you try it, you can do it. Please believe in your talents. And,is Chinese going to be like English? This is a good question. China is a very big country in the world, and chinese people are of large size.China is developing very rapidly these years. Many foreigners establish new companies and factories in China. And the 2008 Olympic game will be held in Beijing. Chinese is really a widely-spoken language. I think it will be very useful if you understand Chinese. So please try it,you will find it interesting. :)

I am a native Chinese, but I have to say that Chinese is not easy to learn well. Besides English, I also study French. Like any other foreign languages, it's very difficult to learn.
Learning a foreign language needs not only time, but also the determination.

i have to admit, i'm a chinese yet i can't speak mandarin....i can speak some local dialect but not mandarin. Like you, i've always thought that it's sufficient to be able to converse and understand English, but it's not so nowadays. Most everyone knows how to speak Mandarin as it's a must if you want to have any business dealing with people from China. I wanted to learn that language for a long long time now, but whenever my friends know about my intention, they will say that they will teach me instead. 10 years down the road, and my mandarin is no better.....

i don't think Chinese will be like English. For me, English will remain as the universal language. but, it is still better to learn how to speak and write Chinese because in business, there are so many employers who are Chinese. and most of the time, it happens that on job applications, if you speak the language, you have the edge of getting hired.

I don't know if Chinese will become "like English" or not-- after all, there are many different Chinese dialects. That said, I think Mandarin is one of the largest (spoken by the most people) languages in the world.
I read an article in a magazine not long ago which stated that China would have the largest English speaking population in the world by the year 2030. It seems that because of the Internet, and English being a common language in Business, many Chinese people are learning English.
I read quite a few science fiction books, and I have noticed that quite a few authors write about a speculative future in which the language of the world is a mixture of English and Chinese. Not long ago there was a science fiction series on TV called "Firefly" which showed a future world where people spoke a mixed language made from Chinese and English.

Absolutely. In term of the population that speak a language, Chinese has owned the largest population and Chinese people can be found in every corner of the whole world, inevitably, it causes the necessity to learn Chinese. The more important factor is at present ear China has been becoming more and more influential both in trading and politics, and more and more people come to China for one reason or another. So Chinese language is more and more widely accepted and become one of the main languaged for globle communication. Start to learn it guy.
