Is lost even worth watching?

LOST is a series that started with a lot of expectations but alas could not live up to it. It seems to me now that the script writers have no idea how to conclude and hence they take us round and round each time... Could someone please tell me who the heck are the others and how did they come to the island so that i can finally stop watching this series... Someone, anyone...

I absolutely think that LOST is worth watching. But I do think that it can be tough to watch it in the week to week format, never mind when they take off many weeks off. I actually found that I perfer watching the show in DVD format where I can watch 2 or 3 episodes in a row. This helped me to really get more of a handle on the plot and see some of the little connections between the characters that I had perviously not noticed. As far as who the others are...and why they came to the island....well that's part of the big mystery. I have my own theories on that, as I'm sure many people do. I do know that the writers have said it's not the "purgatory" thing. My guess is they won't reveal the true answer for a really long time. Especially since it has people so courious that they keep watching when they might otherwise want to give up :-)

I think if I were justs tarting to watch it from scratch at this point, I wouldn't want to watch it. Not only is it confusing, it is contradictory and it doesn't make sense, even though the writers say everything can be explained by science. And with all the flashbacks they pepper the show with, I don't see how a new watcher would make heads or tails of it. HAving watched it myself from the beginning, I love it. I don't know who all the others are, or how each batch of them came to the island, or what is the root of their motivation. The show is expected to last another couple of seasons, so I am just happy to watch it unfold and enjoy it in the process.

Appreciate your response. I have watched Lost from the beginning and i speak from that point of view... it's not that i'am getting confused it's just that i dont see it upto my expectations, where is the substance. Like you only said it's contradictory. As far as i can see it is turning from what promised to be a good story to a spiced up sitcom series and there is a huge difference in that. I would personally like to see the writers prove everything scientifically.

I love watching 'Lost'. I think it is very worth watching. I have watched it from the begining and have never missed an episode. I am trying to talk my husband into buying the past series on DVD for me. As a present of course. I hate when a week goes by and an episode doesn't come on for one reason or other. I am hopelessly addicted to 'Lost'. Espically watching Sawyer.

You fool, have you even been watching? Perhaps the problem is you are too slow to understand the plot? Alright, how did they come to the island? they took their submarine duh Who are the others? they are researchers of the island's mysteries, they are trying to discover why mothers can't give birth on the island, why people cannot get cancer there, and other things not yet revealed

Yo! dude i think fool is a pretty harsh word to use for a series like lost.... Just chill ... The problem is not with my understanding but with your perception about this entire series.... anyways im india they have not reveled so much as yet. But after your explanation about the others im pretty convinced that its lame and to know that you actually think there is a plot in this entire story is very funny....They you any crap in the name of story and you buy it? Anyways next time you choose to call some one a FOOL make sure its for a real cause and not for a lame series like LOST. Respect others who have a superior CHOICE than yours. Have a good day :)

I suppose not everything is for everyone. For instance, I really believe American Idol is a disdainful show that may even possibly kill brain cells (just kidding). It is, in my opinion - that stupid. Anyway, basically I posted a discussion about whether it should disappear from the airwaves. I spread negativity about the show to anyone willing to listen, much like what you (naturebug) are doing here in this discussion with LOST. And a nice day to you too. Not to come off too obsessed, but since this is a discussion about LOST - I must add - the length of existence of the Others on the island is quite the intriguing mystery. It was revealed by Ben that he has spent his whole life on the island. People cannot conceive on and then deliver on the island, so chances are their years on the island are as old as Ben. But it is not written in stone. Maybe the Dharma Initiative did some frucked-up experiment that damaged the environment of the island, making reproduction impossible. Maybe they were ship-wrecked aeons ago. In reference to the submarine, it belonged to the Dharma Initiative who may or may not have merged with the others turning into what could be called the DIO -(Dharma Initiative/Others). The Others sure seem to be Dharma or at least connected to it, but how.... ...we shall see. Long live this great, well thought out and highly intelligent show. It is a rarity. We need more shows of this nature and less reality-based crap that shows bad behavior and nothing thought provoking.

We don't know who the others are yet-- We just know that they are there on their own-- except for Juliet-- Looks like she wants to go home. I love Lost- I love watching a show where you have to think. Lost is this type of show. I like the flashbacks-- I don't think that the writers want to end the show yet-- It is way too popular to stop. I think they will run it a couple more seasons- I know I will continue to watch- It is so interesting to me that I will watch it until the explain everything- I think that if you have not watched it from day 1 you might as well hang it up-- It's the type of show you can't miss an episode and need to get the whole thing.

Maybe the writers are simply more complex and multi-dimensional than most of us 'general public' with limited brain capacity and lack of imagination. I for one think they are doing an excellent job. Perhaps they love what they a being allowed to do. I am loving the show as well as appreciating greatly the enormous size of this onion. Keep the layers of mystery coming even at the expense of brain explosion. I believe this tv show to be doing the opposite of most tv shows out there right now. I think instead of dumbing down the public, it is actually making people have to use their brains and in doing so, they are getting smarter. Or at least I would like to think so. Welcome to mylot. p.s. - We are the public, and the public does count.

I am lost watching lost! it is very confusing. If you miss one minute of it, it is hard to know what on earth is going on. I do think it is pretty interesting, though very frustrating since they drag the viewer along without revealing much. The one thing that just didn't make sense was John blowing up the submarine. And what happened to the two people who were buried in the sand??? and John locke's father? All very confusing.

You fool, they give you answers every episode. At the beginning of the season we knew next to nothing about the others. Now we know a ton about them, we know where they live, where they get their supplies from, who some of them are, and how they got on the island. Juliet is an other and we know a ton about her. The others are researchers of some sort, something to do with cancer and childbirth. They infiltrated the survivors of the plane so that they could do experiments on claire and capture jack so he could operate on ben. Perhaps the problem is your too slow to understand the plot and what is going on?
