TV,Newspaper,radio AD campaigns...does it really affect your buying preference?

What positively influences your buying behaviour? Is it the Ad? Do you buy goods because of quality,efficacy, safety, function, etc. or price? Do you look for better brands or its ok with you to buy something less expensive but functions just the same? Personally, I go for quality because I want to get my money's worth . How about you?
