Do you believe if I said that dogs reduce your stress level? When you are at home after a long bored work, your dog will be sit next to your door waiting for you. And you will play with your dog for a while. Suddenly, i felt not too tired anymore, I felt more refreshed and my stress after work is lighten up a little bit. Do you feel the same way? Or it is just me?

I really believe that dogs do reduce your stress level. I have always been an animal lover, cats being my favorites, and then dogs. Right now I have 2 dascunds and my life will not be the same when they are gone. It does not matter how bad a day I have had, I come home and Oscar and Hans are at the door to greet me. Oscar jumps up and down, and Hans flashes a smile all the while both their tails are going ninety to nothing. Then, when I get past them to set my bag down, they both jump on my lap and start lapping my face with big doggie kisses. All of a sudden I am very light hearted and no matter what has happened during the day that was bad, it does not seem so bad anymore.

I have two opinions about this one:) I do believe that dogs can reduce stress, they make you feel so loved. Mine always gets excited to see me, we play together and he makes me feel happy most of the time but on the other hand I feel some times he adds to my stress. I have a 7 month old golden retriever, he weighs about 65 lbs right now and when he gets in his playful moods he tends to get a bit rough and doesn't listen well to me. So when i say no, he justs keeps on jumping at me and nipping, also he constantly pulls on my daughters clothes and i feel like screaming sometimes when he just won't calm down. Don't get me wrong he is a great dog, i just need to learn to get him to listen to me better. He listens to my boyfriend just fine. I think he sees me as the part of the pack, not a leader.

I see, i guess your dog is not obeying you amydawn11. And you are right, he just not look at you as leader..LOL. I once saw Oprah Winfrey show about this, and the dog expert there (forget his name) said that it's because we being too nice to them. Sometimes we just had to show our leader voice like stern voice.

I believe you ar in the right and that's happened because you know that after a long day at work with the problems which you have there it is someone who is looking forward you to come and he want to spend his time wiht you..I think that's valid for cats too
but I can say that dogs are more attached than cats of their lord and they show more their happiness when they see you. It's like their happiness pass on to you.
