i am in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for almost a year now. and naturally, i miss my boyfriend everyday of my life.
he sent me this shirt of his through regular post a year ago. he sprayed his favorite perfume on it. whenever i miss him so much, i take out the shirt from the resealable envelope (to keep the scent longer) and smell it and usually hug it until i get to fall asleep.
i know some do this, too. so, what do you mostly do when missing someone so much?

I have a bunch of little things I do when I miss my honey. I often look at all the pics I have in my phone, and smile and cry at the same time, hehe. Extremely manly, I know! I also have two pieces of clothing I am keeping for her (you!!! hahaha) until she comes to Sweden, hopefully in July. Those I can hug and smell for hours.. I also have many many sweet letters and cards I can read for hours, and stuffed animals she has given me! Thankfully she understands my enormous love for chimps.. Good thing is we chat every day, some days more than once. But when I mess her much and no chat is planned I send her sweet texts, telling her she is my first, my last, my everything. And, if I miss her even more, I call her, and hopefully her battery hasn´t gone flat, grr! I am one of the lucky ones I guess. My girlfriend does everything to make being oceans apart ok. I love her so!!!

I dont have time to miss my bf since we do live together. this thing with the tshirt was so sweet though
By the way i am looking for a new avatar - someone has gotten the same one as me, and my friends keeps sending me messages coz they think it is me.. He is also rude when I tried to PM him asking him to change it ..

What I do is something which is very simple. I keep on thinking about him/her while lying in bed, until I can almost feel his/her presence. My son once told me when I came home from the farm that, he hardly had any sleep the night before. Now, I shy away from doing it.

yep. some say that when you think so much about a person, that person will hardly put himself/herself to sleep. i guess it's true.

A long time ago, I was in a long distance relationship-- and my girlfried wore one of my sweaters for a couple of days (with nothing else underneath) after which it really smelled like her... mixture of body and perfume. I kept it in a plastic bag and would bring it out and hold it against my face, every time I felt lonely and longing.
I've been part of a long distance sintuation since then, and we mostly dealth with it by sending each other things through regular mail, on a frequent basis... little "ordinary" reminders from our daily lives.

I don't consider it crazy but what I do is sit down and write everything I feel. I write every emotion down in my computer and even save it. Even if I can't send it or talk to the person for a very long time at least I can write down my thoughts.

My boyfriend was an international truckdriver when we got to know eachother. (I was his "boss".) I felt an urge to touch his clothes, when I missed him. I liked very much his handwriting, so I often keep looking his former travelling warrants.
By now he finished the internaional driving in work, so he sleeps each nigt with me. But I often remember those times....
Anyway the best solution for the feeling missing is to accept the situation. You should not be thinking about the time when you were together, because that can be aching.
You miss the feeling of real love and touching. It can not be easy. When will you go to SE?

Haha that's sort of funny, because when I read the title of your post, that's exactly what I was planning to say that I do! lol My husband is in Iraq for a little over a year, so I take out some of his clothes sometimes and smell his scent. I actually took one of them and put it on one of my old dolls and sleep with it so that I can have his scent next to me at night, hehe. I feel sort of silly, but it makes me happy having his shirt next to me in the bed since I can't have him there! :)

When I get to miss my lover too much,I will call his name and ask why he isn't right here with me loudly. It is easy to get tired so I will fall asleep that will be make me at ease for a long time. That's it. kind of unreasonable. hehe

well, that's one good way of making yourself tired. and that's great, too. calling your boyfriend's name out and sleep like a baby after.

i had a long distance relationship too, it was almost a year before our marriage and another one year after our marriage. when he is still my boyfriend then i have this laminated picture of his that i put in my pillow and everytime i miss him i just take out the picture and lay on top of my pillow as if he's sleeping beside me.

Well my husband gave me this stuffed dog with a tshirt on it that smelled like him. It was before we were married and when we lived apart. I had that dog on my bed and when I went to bed at night I could smell it. I still have that dog with that tshirt on but it's at my grandparents house.

that's cute. hihi. are you apart? meaning separated or divorced? not sure here. but well, you can spray the dog again with the same cologne if the smell is already gone.

I'm really crazy when i'm missing someone. Honestly I don't want my husband get away from me even it is just a week. When I feel that I miss him I always call his phone and I want to hear his voice all the time and when I super miss him all I can do is to cry because I don't see him in person. I feel so alone when i'm miss someone and I don't feel contented in just hearing their voice.

Having a long distance relationship is definitely not an easy thing to do. I have a girlfriend myself and sometimes when we got separated by a long distance, I would do something weird such as put myself on strain of doing a lot of exercises and body building just to make myself really tired. When I get really tired, I take a nice bath and go to bed. Somehow this has managed to help me survive all these days.

I have fallen asleep holding their pictures after crying myself to sleep. I have kept their clothes as you have done and made it into a pillow to be able to hug it better. It is really hard caring on a long distance relationship. So it is funny how we hold onto certain things and stuff and put it around us to make us feel better and safer.

When my husband was overseas for twelve months I kept one of his shirts and wore it at bedtime. I loved the smell of him on it. It brought me closer to him while he was gone. He thought I was crazy when he called me and I told him about it. I also didn't sleep in the bed because he wasn't in it. I slept on the couch. He also thought that was crazy but like I mentioned to him that men and women are different and I didn't like sleeping in the bed without him.

That isn't crazy at all. When my son was in the NICU they gave me a blanket he had worn so I would have his scent. I would do the same thing. Thing is that sometimes my son gets sweaty and smells like that blanket. I just smile and inhale deep!
Most of the people I really miss have passed away. When I find myself missing them I just talk to them.

The most craziest thing I did when I missed my wife was to call her the whole night even if she was in a duty.It so happened that there was no patient in the hospital and we made a conversation that we've not used to before.Whatever will come out in our minds we will be happy discussing it until her battery was empty.lol
