Induction

My doctor wants to induce labor if I don't go into labor on my own before April 22nd, I was due the 14th. I was just wondering how induction differs from natural labor. I've heard it's more intense and increases chances of a c-section being needed. As I originally wanted to try for a drug-free natural labor I'm kind of hesitant to be induced but if it is what is necessary I will do it.

I went into labor on my own, but my sister was induced two times because the doc wanted her to deliver on her own schedule, I remember the first one was because she was going on vacation. She had to get an epidural because the contractions were too intense. She also got really bad episiotomies. With natural labor, you have time to stretch down there. It happened so fast with her that the pressure from the babies head ripped her. I would talk to a doctor about your needs and wants about your labor, it's your body, your choice.

Did you have the baby? Did you get induced? How was it for you? I hope you were able to get all of your questions answered in time. I am just now seeing this message, my apologies. I wish I could have shared my induction information with you before it happened. Best of luck to you.

I actually had my water break 3 days before I was scheduled to be induced. The baby was born 2 days after that (long labor, lol). Thanks for your concern.

Well, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 2 days later huh? Wow. Well how did everything go for you? I've never had my water break, the doc always had to do it. Which I'm sure will be the same in this case. I just wish she'd hurry up and get here. I've been walking around in mild labor for 28 hours now. Mild meaning they just feel like regular menstrual cramps, and they are only 10 minutes apart. I've spoken with a few people who said they went through the same for about 2-3 days. So, I'm just hanging in there. But it's aggarvating because I'm so anxious for her to get here. Good luck with the baby... what did you have?

I noticed that you've already recieved the answers you were looking for but I wanted to add my induction story, if you don't mind??? I was given the choice of induction for my son and chose the date of December 7th. I was scheduled to go in at 6:00 a.m. and wouldn't you know... my water broke at 2:30 a.m. on December 7th! I ended up going into labor on my own and still having my baby on the day I chose. He's my lucky star ; )

I have had 5 kids and was induced with 3 of them. It is more intense because you don't usually get to work up to the hard contractions, they usually just start out hard for me. But everyone is different. I had my first four kids naturally with no pain meds. My little girl had complications and after 10 hours of labor, I had to have her emergancy ceaserean. She was my last baby! She's ok now... Congrats to you on your new baby! And just remember to breathe and have a focal point....and remember that crying only makes it hurt 10 times worse so try not to do that. All that pain is so worth it once you hold that precious baby in your arms! Congrats again! Good luck!

induction is more painful, because it bringing the contractions stronger and faster. Good Luck
