Calling all computer techs. All of a sudden I get a pop up message from my own computer saying that this site meaning MyLot may be a phishing site and to be careful with giving personal info. I've been a member of mylot for about 5 months now and never got this message before. Why do you think I got this message now. Is there something wrong with my settings or is it possible that this site could be a phishing site. Just wondering.

I think the best step you can take is ask myLot.
They may not be aware of this notice you're getting.

Phishing is a means of obtaining really personal sensitive information through the use of emails made to look like official websites, such as paypal and ebay and its attempts to get email users to provide them with your password and they do this by giving you a link in the content of the emails they send you. (So, you should never use the links in emails you receive.) But phishing is more broader because they have been known to use the telephone, websites and other means of communication to trap a person so they can steal our money i.e. bank accounts so we really should never give anyone we don't know personal info. For a more complete detail of phishing wikepedia has all you need to know and you could look up scamming as well. Hope this helps and I hope mylot is safe. Stay well.
