What would you do if you had only a few months to live?

Maybe this is a rather gloomy subject..heehhee..but if by some God awful chance you were told you had some terrible disease and only a few months to live...what would you do...wallow in agony, give up, and await your fate, sink into depths of despair---or live every moment to the fullest, and maybe even do a heavy duty mind thing to overcome the disease--as there are accounts of just such a thing happening.
With me, at first I would be shocked of course..and maybe would feel depressed...but then that would be such a waste of time...if I knew I only had a few more months to live I would want to live every day to the fullest..and perhaps psyche myself into health again..Is is after all in the mind.
Haven't you heard the story...two men go to their doc..one is in the prime of health..not a thing wrong...the other unknowingly has a horrible incurable disease...they both get tests done and both men return to find out the results of their tests...ah...but the tests were switched...the healthy man is told he's going to die...the other man, the real sick one is told he's fit as a fiddle...guess who dies...just thoughts here

I would be depressed too. But I would also want to do all the things that would mean so much to me.
I would spend so much time with the kids.
I would make tapes and write letter for them later on in their lives.
I would go visit my sister and best friend, whom I have not seen in person in years!
I would go visit my father's grave site and talk to him...since I have yet to see his headstone and he passed in Feb 1999.
I would want to travel to so many places just to see them! Alaska, Ireland, Scotland, Egypt, and Salem Mass.
Max out the credit cards if I must.
But get a huge life insurance policy and near the end, let it be known what I want done.

What a wonderful response tia...the idea of making tapes and writing letters for your kids to read later in their lives is wonderful...a wonderful way to remember their mom..and to also want to provide for your loved ones afterwards...wish my mom had given me a clue ...I almost didn't have the money at all to properly provide for her as she didn't tell me she had any money..for awhile there I thought she would have to wind up in a potter's field kind of thing..gruesome...
And for traveling to all those places...hey if we both get gruesome news...lets go together!... ;-)

That is a great response!
I think the letters and tapes to the kids was the most specail thing. I think they would appericate that so much. One for their graduation day, for the wedding day, ect... *wiping the tears from my eyes* :)

I've never heard of the song, but I've heard the statement live like it's the last day of your life.

Well, the first thing I would do is go out and get as many credit cards and loans as possible and blow all the money on material possesions. I would buy everything from new movies, music, cars, a house, even new furnishings, and clothes and anything I could afford to buy on my newfound money(if this is even possible).
Or, I would rob a bank, (not kill anyone) and get all kinds of money to spend. I wouldn't have enouth time to get caught if I planned it out.
But either way, I would still up buying anything I could imagine and having fun while I can. Because I too am about living in the moment, just a different moment then you.

i will talk to all of my enemies and make up with them...
if i have the means to help the needy in financial matters i will do that... whoever in my family that has a not good relationship i will make way for them to talk and forgive each other..i will spend more time reading GOD's word and serving Him by giving full time in ministry and sharing the word of GOD to others...

I would earn maximum amount for my family, so that they will be financially relaxed for some time. I would do only the good things which will help others and make them happy. I will wont even think of hurting others

I would put my affairs in order. Make sure my cats are taken care of (as in not going to the pound.) I would try as much as I could to over come my illness, but I wouldn't deny it, I would work to see to it that my cats could live in peace for the rest of their lives. I know that the roommate would try to take care of them, so I would be sure that my family also understood my desire. I would try to find homes for as many as possible, but I would also make sure that the house I'm living in could still be here for the roomie to live in as long as my cats are living.

I would spend all my money!!lol. Seriously, depending on my health I would try to travel some. At my age, I am very much aware of the rush of time in life. I also know that all of us are suffering from a terminal disease. It's called life....so live everyday as if it were your last.

'....suffering from a terminal disease. It's called life..." That's a good one susieq! Actually when you think of it, the moment we are born we start the path toward our deaths! And yes live everyday as if it were your last.

In such situation I will execute a will first. it will give mental peace.then consume medicines for the remaining time . in the story the healthy man die early because of the shockand fear but not of disease. nobody shall be intimted of life span so that he loose his confidence and die early.pessimistic thought is more dangerous than disese

I would always want to live my life as best I can. If I was sick I would not want anyone to be indisposed because of me. There is a saying mind over matter and I believe if you firmly believe you can make it happen. There are some things the mind can't cure, but the mind can free you from your bodily woes and let you live. It works the other way to , if you think yourself sick then you will be sick. The mind is a powerful tool as long as we use it to our advantage.

Of course I would want to spend that time with my loved ones as much as possible. I would also do as many good deeds as I can, so that God would accept me. That's how I would spend my last few months.
