my favourite is sherlock holmes and it was saddening for me that he is an imaginary character. i imagined him to be tall, slim ,clean shaven not so great looking but intense looking and so on .... then is poirot he is also good but certainly not as good as sherlock holmes ,who is better or intelligent detective??

Sherlock Holmes hats off to his creativity and imagination power. He is a fictional detective of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who first appeared in publication in 1887. He is the creation of Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based detective, Holmes is famous for his intellectual prowess, and is renowned for his skillful use of deductive reasoning and astute observation to solve difficult cases. He is arguably the most famous fictional detective ever created, and is indeed one of the best known and most universally recognizable literary characters in any genre. Hercule Poirot is a fictional Belgian detective who featured in the novels of Agatha Christie. He has been portrayed on screen by various actors including Albert Finney, Peter Ustinov and most recently, David Suchet. I know a very less about him since i haven't gone through his novels.
