Hi friend, when you are walking on the street or waiting at the station, then a beggar walks to you and offers his hands to you,how will you do?go away at once,or give him some coins?
last week, when i was seating on the subway,a beggar came to me,and knelt down in my front, and said "give me some money kindly".my god.i did not know how to do.in fact,i did not want to give him,as i know he has labor capability.but he said again and again, then i had to gave him some coins.after saying thank you,he faced to other people for money.oh,i can not understand why a lusty man would reach his hands to others for money,as he is not the simpleton or a handicapped.
hi friends,if it happens to you,how will you do?

Give or not give? It's up to you.But you have no right to criticise beggars, because they have given up their dignity already.

hi friend,i know your meaning.but i did not criticise them, and just want to say that it is not correct for them to give up their dignity, they need not to do it,as they can earn money by their own hands, right?

I was one of those people that soooooooo kind-hearted... and then end-up being cheated... hmm... :(
Actually before that incident i always give money... coins or $1~$5 to beggars as i felt sorry for them.. but one day after i gave one blind man $5... my friend overheard he said to his friend and laugh at me... my friend told me later that day. So from that day i swore to myself not to give even a single cent to any of them... if i want to donate then i will give through the right organization.... never never never give any to them..

It depends. Here in philippines some of beggars here are such a stupid... Like After the had some money they will call another beggar to ask some money... and after this one had some money... they call another one.. and this continue and continue until you don't have any money in your pocket..

I think it is personally a real hard call to decide whether to help the man or not. If to he looks like he's able to work from my judgement then I would be less hesitant to help him. However, if it is apparent at in his handicap situation then I will be more willing to provide him with some assistance. However, I would rather provide him with something more towards food or water instead of monetary assistance so it would prevent him to utilize for a booze or a smoke. To really assist him from the heart that would be the right thing to do, however out of convenience I can see others just provide him with a buck or two.

I really can not understand why not a healthy earn money by their hand.It is better even do some humble work than beg money .At least no one can look down upon on you.

well there lots and lots of beggars in my city and i do pay them but if they are needy in that case that they are handicapped but sometimes i also saw beggars begging however they are absolutely right they beg all day and make maximum of 500 and if they work as a servant or work as a worker they could earn more.

I will give money to those beggars who are handicapped and hence no other means of earning an income.I may give money to small kids not because I wanted to,but because of the fact that they mat get beaten up for not earning a reasonable amount at the end of the day.Other beggars,I will never ever give money. Not even single bucks.

Hi, vicky19810. Great to hear you today. I was at the same condition as you yesterday. The beggar came to me when i was waiting for my friend. The difference is she was a woman with about 2 year old child in her hands and maybe 8 year old boy with her. She won't budge and keep on begging even if i just said and do nothing. So, i took out one of my bread that i bought and give it to 8 year old boy. I didn't give any money to them. And they walked away and beg to guy that about 2 metres away from me. It's not the begging that i was worry about, it's the kid and the baby that i worry about. They have to suffer with hot and rain. Make me wonder if she really their mother ? If the beggar is a man, maybe i will give him money because i don't have another choice for that.

i would try not to encourage begging and would definitely look at the condition of the person begging.
If the beggar is young and without any physical deformity, i would certainly not give anything to that begger.
But if the beggar is old and helpless, then i would think of doing some charity.

This is a good question. My instinct would tell me to give but my coscience tells me not to because I am just patronizing something that's not right. It has been a long debate whether to give or not to give, honestly ...I would love to help but not in this manner because we are giving them the wrong impression that begging is okay, we just teach them to go on and on . Even the handicapped can work with dignity , some blind people become masseuse to earn a decent living. There's a saying "give them fish you feed them for a day, teach them how to fish and you give him food for a lifetime".
let me tell you a story from my banker friend, he said that begging is becoming a money making tactic
, more because the beggar in shanty clothes he sees everyday in front of the market area begging for money is his depositor in the bank he is working, everyday the beggar deposits his money just like any businessman. He has a good amount in his savings account, well at least he's good in managing his finances I said, hopefully he'll make good use of that money to venture in other more decent business (just a thought)

I have encountered this condition for many times. At first time I gave them some coins too.But at once I discovered that they are not really lack money or poor.I used to see a beggar have dinner in a restaurant who begged in street at afternoon.I believe that you also have heard of the story of beggars village who is rich becarse of they begged all the time.So now I don't give them money any more.
