I always answer our phone if I don't then the our answering machine will as my husband hates to answer the phone and very rarely does. I actually find the phone annoying and answer it with a feeling of "What now' although I am nice on the phone. I get very sick of people ringing up asking for money all the time for different organisations, especially a heap in the same day.

Actually, we do not have a house phone. We have cell phones instead.
And since my partner has a phone, I have a phone, and the kids have one, we tend to answer our own phones.
The only exception is if that one is upstairs...then someone else will answer it and take it to the person.
Or, the kids phone...if I am there, I will often answer it myself because they all share that phone anyways.
And the good thing is, with caller ID, sometimes we do not even need to answer it when we look at who is calling...we just hand the phone to that person if they are right there. :)

Don't you just love caller ID. So we don't have to answer phone calls that don't deserve to be answered.

We don't have a land-line in our house, we just each have a cell phone. So, whoever's phone rings, that's who answers it. If my BF has left his phone and gone to another room, I will usually look at the caller ID and ask him if he wants me to answer it, or I just bring it to him; he does the same for me, too.

That cool! Respect for other's privacy. My wife does the same, too. When I'm in the shower and the phone rings. She just lets me know and ignore it.

My wife or the kids, I really don't get up for the phone at all, I'm not a big on talking on the phone & I don't get much calls for that matter. 9 times out of 10 the phone will be for her or the kids. It just don't stop ringing 24/7.

Mom and Dad. At my parents' home most of the call will be theirs so they normally answer the phone.

When my parents visit for the winter, most of the phone calls become theirs too. Then, I would let them answer all the calls.

my son never answers the phone, even if I am out and he is alone. So I am the one that answers the phone in my house. I don't care when I am out it doesn't matter, I do have voice mail so it is fine with me.

I have an answering machine which I don't use anymore, because it's not common here in this country. People end up talking not realizing it was a recording.

Most of all, my mother receives the calls at home, because I will be using the computer or studying at that time.
Have a nice day.

lately it is my 6-year-old grand daughter who answers the phone all the time. she knows how to say hello, who's on the line please, wait a minute. i let her received the calls because she thinks that the one calling is her papa since her father is working abroad. i have only 4 people who know our landline number, two of my sisters, a friend of my other grand kid and the father of my grand daughter. my grand daughter could easily identify the voice on the phone whoever calls.

Like you. I'm not a phone person. I rather do face to face with hand gestures and emotion.

When I am home I answer the house phone - the man of the house never touches the mobile phone so I do all the answering on it. Here though it doesn;t really matter which one of us answers the house phone. We get about an equal number of calls.

Cool! Nice and equal. My wife doesn't give her friends our home phone. She thinks home phones are for family. But, I give it to anyone who asks for it.

I don't communicate well on the phone. I'm a face to face kind of person. so I usually keep phone calls short.

Not I. When I'm far away from the phone. I still have to pick it up because she knows its for me.

It's always my mum! My father is so lazy that even if he knows it's for him he'll still expect mum to answer it! He doesn't want to leave the sofa or miss anything on television. I don't answer the phone because I think it might me my ex trying to find me, and as far as my ex is concerned I am not here! I have a phobia about phones anyhow, I just hate talking on them I feel uncomfortable.

Whoever is nearest the phone usually answers it in my house. If I am watching tv, I leave it up to my wife to answer it as most of the calls are usually for her. Most of my friends and relatives call me on my mobile phone and I usually keep that in my pocket so I I have to answer it myself.

I try not to give my home phone to people. But, sometimes calling my cell is just too expensive for them so I had no choice.

I do that. I like talking to people, specially the element of surprise of not knowing who they might be. lol

I never liked phone surprises. I get agitated if they keep saying guess who.
