Caught a fly with my bare hands ... now what?

As I sit at my computer there is this annoying fly that keeps buzzing around my head. I have been swatting it away and a few minutes ago I actually caught it with my bare hands. My husband does this all the time and then after catching it he shakes it in his hand and throws it to the ground, usually to the death of the fly! Well, after I caught the fly I felt it flying around and bumping into my closed fist and it freaked me out. I couldn't hold on to it and let out a girly scream before releasing it!
What do you do with annoying pests? Do you catch them and let them go or get out the fly swatter?

Ewww...I have caught one with my hand once, and felt its nasty body, and wings that I bet have been on some poop, or other disgusting thing...so I just did what you did!
I let out a little scream, and opened my hands. Then of course after just thinking that, I had to go and wash my hands!!
I get really annoyed with pests like that. But, I do not want to touch them either. Hand me a fly swatter, and they will be gone in no time. There is no need to try and catch them....I have gotten good at it!! Muahhhh! LOL :D
You did a good job at least you weren't like a man and shook it, then threw it on the ground just to smoosh it! :)

im sorry Bearded Dragon. He is a lizard. He is about 24 inches incloding tail and loves to eat all kinds of bugs, fruit, and veggies!! He is also very nice and does not bite! I cant post a pic here but if you would like to see a pic go to http://www.myspace.com/jessnewman24 look under pics in the pets album. There are a few pics of him.

Time to get out my tennis racquet me thinks, seriously I have an electric fly swatter which is in the shape of a tennis racquet you press the button as you hit the fly and it electrocutes it! Battery operated it's a pretty nifty weopen to have against these irritating bugs! I only use it on flies or wasps anything else is Collected in a glass and freed.

What is with men catching then, shaking them up, and then bouncing them off the ground???? My partner does that too!!! And he seems so proud of himself! LOL
I had to ask my partner why he shook them. He told me, "It makes them dizzy so you can slam them on the ground." What? Do they have a summer camp for boys that teach them that? That must be one of the many things that they are taught in that camp...but that would be a different discussion completely. ha ha
I have only caught one a few times. And each time, I ran outside to let it go. ha ha Why? I have no clue! Because if you give me a swatter, I am going to splat those annoying flies! LOL I will even get so annoyed with them that I will start swatting at them in mid-air in hopes that I will still get them. LOL
But...that is what I do with it if I catch it. Sorry...I am the wrong gender to have attended that camp to teach me to make them dizzy first. :)

Uhhh...ewww! Sorry, I would much rather be handed a fly swatter, than to take some boy camp on how to kill flies!
How do they even really know that anyways?
Maybe it is just an instinct! :D
I know that I would never do that...I am too much of a chicken to ever catch one. Yucky!! :)

There is only one acceptable corse of action after one catches a live fly. You get a long piece of hair, and tie a loose loop at the end of the hair. Place the loop over the flys head, and gentally tighten the loop. Now you have a pet fly. Enjoy!

I have this great image of you with a fly in your hand and while trying to pluck a long hair out of your wife's head! I'm also assuming that you're joking about the pet fly thing ... but with you who really knows!!
Have fun in sunny Flordia!

I must be too girly to want to catch any insect. Flies are discussing to me. I have never tried to catch one. I always use a swatter and kill them as fast as possible. They carry so many diseases and are just nasty pest. If I caught one by mistake I would probably run to let it out the door. I can't stand to see things die, but it never bothers me when I swat one. weird eh?

Eew!! I would never catch a live fly with my bare hands. Just imagine the things that its been landing on, yuck! Personally, when it comes to flies give me the swatter so I can whack it. And not the kind of whack that gives it a headache and then it gets up again in a few minutes. I'll whack it till I see guts and then pick it up with toilet paper and give it a burial at sea. *LoL*
