Real or Boxed

Mashed Potatoes - It's impossible to find a nice looking picture of mashed potatoes. Try as you might, they all always end up looking trashy. This is the classiest picture of mashed potatoes that I could find.

Do you make your mashed potatoes out of real potatoes or do you just make them out of the box? I hate the ones out of the box, but I'm too lazy to make my own.

I hate the box mashed potatoes as they always taste like cardboard instead of real potatoes.its so easy to make real mashed potatoes and only takes minutes to do and it tastes so much better you would not believe it.

I like real potatoes, or the fresh ones. I have made instant when I am in a pinch but they are just not the same.

I would only ever make them from real potatoes! We always have a big sack of spuds in to make chips, boiled/new/baked/roast potatoes out of becuase it's cheaper and i think better for you.

Hi gwumpysmurf. I ALWAYS make my mashed potatos the old fashioned way with real potatos. I would NEVER eat the ones out of the box! EW EW EW! To me that just sounds wrong. I'll admit it is time cosuming, but SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it!

I can't stand the kind that come out of the box. To cut some of the time it takes to make fresh mashed potaotes I will normally peal a bunch of potatoes at one time. Put them in a large bowl of water with a lid on them to store in the refrigerator. As long as the potatoes are covered in water they can last for several days in the refrigerator. Depending on how we want the potaotes cooked I take out just what we need for dinner that night.
