Do you think you are a smart customer who always make the best chioce? Will you do some 'research' about the product and compare the prices in different stores? Have you ever bought some expensive products which you could have bouhgt in other stores at cheaper price? Will you always'check' the product? Will you try to find the best one when you are buying fruit or meat? Will you check the expiry date and try to 'search; for the best products on the shelves? And have you ever bought an expired product? Are they still consumable? Will you buy the discounted products? Do you think they are of inferior quality? 'Yesterday, after I read the advertising brochure of the supermarket to see which food are on special, I went to the supermarket to have grocery shopping, when I was on the food section,I saw an expired canned food which got a dent on it, of course I did not buy it and I told the staff to take it away,I was wondering how many expired food were there,if some customers picked it up without checking the expiry date, they may regret.' What do you think?? Do share your thoughts.:)

I always check expiration dates on my food. I also will look for the "freshest" meat & produce. I don't usually compare prices between stores, as most stores are a long drive and what I'd save in the store, I'd waste in gas. I normally don't bother with specials either. Most of the time they are things I don't want anyway. I usually go in with what i want in mind, get it & get out fast. That's my motto.

LOL... Well I frequently buy bananas and I buy them while they are still slightly green. Not too green though. Apples, I check the color, for dark spots or "mushy" spots. ( I go to the orchard when it's open, can't get any fresher than that !!) Strawberries, I smell and check the color (should be a nice red, not too dark) and also check for dark or mushy areas)

If its furniture or microwaves cooker things like that I look on the Internet then go to the store to have a look then usually order it over the net as I can get a much better price and usually no delivery fee, I go to a supermarket about 10 miles away from me simply because they have the best prices , they have 100's of Buy One Get One Free ( BOGOF)every week , I do check the sell by dates as well , and I look for the best buys , as we are pensioners and My son is disabled and doesn't work we have to watch our budget very carefully , I do like grocery shopping though , and I just love a bargain too xx

I worked in a grocery store when I was in college. Now I always check for the expiration date. When I worked at the store we were careful to pull expired stuff off the shelf. We usually did not have to do this too often because we kept records on what stuff sold and what didn't. If an item did not sell well then we did not restock it anymore.

So that mean there may be a high chance for smething to be expired on the shelf?

I have to say that I am a bad shopper. I go into the store that is closest (if i am just shopping a little) and dont really look at the prices or the expiriation date. When I am going to shop big i will go to a store here that is known to have good prices.. Here they can not sell "old" stuff so I am not really worried about the date on what I am getting...

I try and go around to several different stores only purchasing the "sale items." Many times I stilll have to buy exspensive items. I only check the expiration date on items that go in the fridge. I suppose I should start checking the expiration date on all food. Eatting expired food puts toxins in your body.

It is better to make a good reserch before you buy something so that you will not buy something at an expensive price. It is also important to check the expiry date .

For the expensive products, which we just did, fridge, oven, dish washer. We researched it thoroughly and hunted around for the best deals. But for the everyday grocery item, I usually know what I want and just grab it, if there is something similar on sale I might have a look at it. Thats a good point though I dont check for expiry dates I just presume it is ok if they are selling it. I will do that in future.

Sometimes, the goods may be out of the expiry date and the staff are just too busy in replacing them, customers may suffer a loss if they pick them up.

Yes, I spend most of my time in a supermarket just to compare which is the cheapest. And sometimes I just waste my time to check all the shelves for something I might need. Funny huh ? It ended up with buying things that I never thought to buy before.

It is habitual for me to check the date of expiry and MRP of any product I buy. Expired food items may cause health problems. So we should be careful. Comparison of prices is possible if you have the time and there are similar stores nearby. Choosing discounted products depends upon what product are you behind at. There are chances for discounted products to be of sub quality. Under no circumstances should Expired food products sold in a market.

Yes. I am one of those that always compares prices of products on many stores. I know that a few times i did the mistake of buying in a store because of lack of time, and about half an hour late i realized that there is a store that is more cheaper by my house. I always check for prices, because i know that if you do not check it can cost you a lot more, and it is a pitty. So yes, i am one of those smart marketers.

You must be a smart consumer then, and we should not rush into a decision when we are buying something or we will make a wrong move and regret.

It has been my habit to check for ingredients and expiry date of each product before I buy them from any supermarket. This is to make sure that I am getting a good product and do not have to waste time returning the product to the supermarket later.

Yes, I always check an expires data of product, in that am sure...coz it is my professional skill:)but product i usually choose in different markets. In one market i know that meat will be best and cheep , in others - maybe it would be better to buy simple product for daily use, such as sugar, salt or..etc. And as soon as I notice that term of product quality is expired, i always tell to market administration. Sure i can complain to certain organisation, which make a control under such markets...but my opinion it is more effective, when simple customer notice about bad product . Markets are very "clever", they changing data of expire on product, or place product in the best evidence for customer. But if we will "keep" head on our neck properly:) we'll be clever enough to choose proper product and will not become an victim of proposion

I wouldn't consider myself to be the smartest customer, but I will always check the expiry date on products I purchase. If I happen to see some products that are out of date and if there aren't many of them, I will personnaly take them off the shelves and take them to the manager. If there are quite a lot of goods that are not fit for human consumption then I will contact the Department of Health and ask them to pay a visit to the store.

When I'm about to buy one specific thing I usually check almost every other product that the store has and it takes quite a lot of time actually. Although I usually forget to look on the expiration date and there is times when I buy old products. But theres one one problem with me. When i try to find one specific product I want i usually grab the first thing I see and don't compare it to the other shops or stores especially when it comes to expensive products.

when i do grocery, i usually dont have a list with me. what i do is, to go to every setion of the supermarket and browse all the stuff in there and see if i have this or that. wheni remember that i dont have, then i'll get one and buy them. so far, it works on me. i seldom forget things, but when i do forget something, i go back and shop again. i dont mind doing it because i love doing grocery.

Aside from personal preference, the thing to do is shop based on unit price, the price usually with an orange background. Lowest unit price = most product per dollar when comparing similar items from different manufacturers in the grocery store.
