So I decided to get in better shape for a cruise I am going on this summer. Why is it so hard to just get into shape? I hate dieting because you last for maybe a week then back to what you were eating before. Anyone have any suggestions on what you do to stay in shape and keep the fat from building up? I am still eating healthy and doing a lot of portion control, but I just wanted to know what exercises work the best, such as some aerobic exercise or other weight lifting routines. Holler back...

Here's what i do, I do a bunch of stretching, so to make sure that every thing's in the right place, eat whatever i want, within reason, and several small meals a day and do turbo jam, it's not that expensive, and it works.
I lost 2 pounds a work out, and it's stayed off.

Actually a mixture of exercises is the best way to go. Cardio speeds up metabolism, weights tone and build muscle, muscle which burns carbs and fat.
Simple movement causes the body to burn the calories it consumes, lowering the caloric intake causes the body to begin keotosis which is simply the body using fat stores for energy.
When one is 'getting in shape' one should concentrate on toning muscle which in turn will build muscle which burns fat...leave the scale behind, start measuring because muscle weighs more than fat and the scale will only disappoint you in the end...measure your arms, legs, waist, hips, bustline...and keep in mind that high intensity is harder than slow and continuous...walk for an hour rather than jog a mile, ride a bike rather than taking a drive, move, lift, and move some more.
Work the entire body, targeting doesn't really work all that well...
