Each year I notice a list of new words added to various dictionarys. I have often wondered how these words get added. Is there a form of some type? A petition? A website that one can access to get words added, or try to add them? How does one go about adding a word to the language? I am just curious.

I dont know how it works for english words. For spanish language, theres the RAE (Royal Spanish Academy. All of its members are experts from different regions of spanish-speaking countries. So it's up to them to decide what words to add. When a new word is "invented" it takes years for them to approve it (in most of the cases). Last year for example they added the word "jean". Before they did so, the RAE considered the word as a slang word,(in spanish, lunfardo)

There is a top panal that removes words and adds words to the dict. The top panel is brought for the top collages in the country. The meeting is in tx.
