Do you enjoy "real life" stories in the movies or prefer fiction?

I prefer fiction as well. Not only with movies but with books. I like some real stories but some I just find to be either too dry or too emotional for me. There are some I have liked or enjoyed but I like more the ones that are inspired off true events but are fictional stories; like the movie "Titanic" for example. Overall though I'd rather have fictional stories, even if they could be something that has happened, knowing that it hasn't makes a difference.

I think that's why I love historical fiction so much. It's a touch of reality but with enough fiction involved that you don't get too emotionally drained. When you read horror stories you know are true, it just seems to depress and drain you.

I really like true stories, but I also really like fiction ones too! If I had to chose I would say fiction though because they seem to be a little bit more interesting. Some true stories are really good, but others almost put me to sleep.

I like a little bit of both in the movies. I like the movies that are based on a real life story as well as fictional movies. I see more fictional movies than i do real life ones but both are very good and interesting and would watch both types. Fiction probably has a bit more excitement to them. There seems to be a lot of excellent graphics in the fictional movies and a little less in the real life stories in the theater.

I agree, the fiction ones are usually more exciting and involve a lot more action.

I don't have any such 'preference', but I really don't mind real life stories in the movies. I always realise the amount of fiction or fantasy that will have to go into such stories though. But, real events and people are always interesting. I have nothing against fantasy movies too:)

Yes, agreed, even a "real life drama" has parts added and spiced up to make it more interesting usually.

I enjoy those true stories better. I think cause they are more likely that they could actually happen, in some big fancy productions, nothing that happens in the movie is even close to being able to be considered reality. They are sometimes interesting, a few action movies will hold my interest. but i love geting into the characters. If you've never seen magnolia, you should watch that. EXCELlent character movie, with a little bit of bizzarity in it. There you just encountered your first sissygrl to english dictionary moment. i made a word. ;)

I like both kinds of movies. It just depends on my mood what I want to see. I love action movies. I also like true story movies. We hardly ever go to the theater any more the prices are just way too high.

I too enjoy real life stories in the movies & i think that movies must have only real life stories bcuz our young generation extremely like to watch movies & they see there that a guy 7 gal fall in love & get marry & enjoy life but in the real life, such things happen seldom. I basically like to watch real life stories.

As I never go to the movie theater everything I watch is at home and it does not matter if it is a true story or fiction.

I agree. With nonfiction stories t.v. can break up a long movie and air it as a mini series. If you try to make a film for the theater, you would have to edit it down to 2 hoursBut on the other hand. Fiction stories are perfect on the silver screen.they can be edited down so they are about 2 hours. The exception to the rule is the epic. It may be based on a true story but it is made to air in the theaters.

Whenever I see "based on actual events" or "true story" on a movie preview, I say I have to see that! I love watching movies that are based on actual events. I dont know but I find it neat and interesting. But I also love fiction, I dont have a fave between the two. But I love watching movies with actual events and truth behind them.

i like fiction better than true stories cause fiction movies tend to be more exciting. and in fantasy-you get instantly drawn to the different characters and different world making it full of adventure and magic. i enjoy this kind of movie because it takes you away from reality.
true stories are also good, but i find it really depressing. usually they are about hardship of the people went through, there's nothing wrong with it its just seems to real and to harsh.
