What to talk about?

Granted, this is feeding my need for conversation some, but I've been wondering how often you feel like you're running out of good ideas for discussions. I know sometimes I'm worried about talking about something because my views are seen as too liberal. Or maybe I just won't talk about some interesting topic just because it's been done to death online already.
When I'm feeling like I can't write anything, I like to sit back with a fresh cup of coffee and think about things I might want to know. I'll spend a little while looking up interesting facts or information and then bring that to light as a subject. So, not only do I get to discuss something new, but I can learn about the topic at the same time.
What about you? Are there times when you feel like you can't discuss something, or really don't want to bother? What about times when you just can't think of anything to say? Do you read a newspaper, maybe, to get new ideas? Is there a ritual you follow before logging onto Mylot? I'd love to hear what everyone has to say on it!

I hate getting a great idea for a conversation piece and forgetting about it before I get to the computer. Or worse, remembering it over and over but doing the same thing...forgetting.

Okay, but what about when you just can't think of anything in the first place? There's nothing to forget and the blank computer screen just starts to get bigger and bigger in front of you.
How about this one for you?
What do you do when you can't remember what you were going to blog about?
