There is one more week left for the cricket World Cup 2007. But who do you think has stood out? Will it be a player from Australia as they have won every game so far? Or would it be someone else?? I personally think from what i have seen so far, Matthew Hayden (Australia) has been consistent in every game. He has also equalled the number of hundreds(3)in this tournament. Do you disagree??

Sure Matthew hayden has looked the best of all batsmen in this world cup. But one more name is staking claims for the player of the series and thats Glenn Mcgrath. According to the ICC points system to determine the player of the series, Mcgrath is the leading scorer in terms of most points followed by Matthew hayden. However Hayden can get past him if hayden gets the man of the match award in one of the coming games or if he is the second best player of the match. So the competition is fierce right now, lets wait and watch who holds the player of the tournament trophy.

Matthew Hayden for sure will be this World cup player of the year. The close contenders can be MsGrath, Gibbs and Ponting.

Yes I agree with you but Sanath Jayasuriya also performing well in both bat and bowling. Might he also have the chances of getting the player of the tournamnet.

I feel that it could Matthey Hayden of australia. He has been in tremendous form in this world cup. He deserves that award. He was actually going to be dropped for the world cup because of his poor form but he has proved his mettle by playing superbly in this world cup.

I have to agree with all the other posters. I can't see any challange to Matthew Hayden. It's also difficult to see any real challenge to Australia the way they're playing.

completely agree with you, it should be matthew hayden, he has performed in almost every match in this orld cup, especially considering the way in which he entered the side, after being dropped it should be hayden

Matthew Hayden for sure! He's in stunning form. As an opener its really hard to stand your ground and really set the pace for the rest of the team. Gilchrist has tried to mix it up a little, but hes just so inconsistent. Hayden's been able to achieve centuries with ease in most of the games, I reckon the only other player that could contest him is Ricky Pointing. Pointing has been there to pick up the slack at times when Australia doesnt perform well.
