about off topic/interest discussion in the mylot interest group

I've seen that in the mylot interest group. The topics are diverse. Not everyone talks about mylot. There are talks about latest news, other off topics, life. It seems the mylot group has become the general interest group. The general interest group has disappeared into .. nothing (I don't see anyone answering anything :D ). What do you think about these interest and topic pairing. Should we demand that topics be placed under respective interests (and give negative ratings to those that don't?). Or should people be allowed to write anything anywhere?

I see this often, not just in the mylot interest group but in all sorts of places. Sometimes I respond, but usually I don't. I believe people just don't realize what they are doing when they start a discussion in the wrong place.

I don't give them negative ratings, I simply don't respond. Sometimes I might and not realize it was put in the wrong place. It's more of a pet peeve than anything else. It's not that hard to go to the interest and post a discussion that fits it!
