howz linux help me out ,..i wanna give it s try

ubuntu is a very good distribution. you will enjoy the difference between windows and linux . though i prefer redhat packages than debians but no doubt ubuntu is good to use and easy to understand.but , if you want to learn and use linux professionally i woould suggest you to use rhel(red hat enterprise linux 5 0r 4), or fedora 6 or 5. if you tell me the purpose of your using linux and your machine configuration i think i would be able to suggest you the best suited distribution.

you can first try out linux using a live cd for a few days and if you like it, then install and if you don't like it then don't. i think that you should install windows on your computer too because some of the softwares are not compatible with linux os.
