I think you should leave it alone when Scanning, let it finish. you will feel much better because it will run faster.

Scanning your computers hard drive requires a lot of your computers recourses. So that leaves less time for something else you may want to do. The faster your CPU the less likely you will notice but if you have a relatively slow computer it will most defiantly show.
I problem I had that slowed my computer way down was one of my memory chips begin to fail. When that happened everything slowed down. When you have less real memory the computer begins to page virtual memory. That really eats up computer time all by it's self.
Microsoft has a program that can be loaded at startup and does a diagnostic run on your computer. I don't remember the name of it now but that is how I found the bad memory. Just a few ideas.

yeah mine too. maybe it's using a lot of resources and memory or something, so that's why it affects your computer's performance? hehe..not so sure..

yes, it happens with my computer too and i think it happens with all of the computers, because scannning the hardrives of the computer require a lot of system resources. and because of this when i am scanning my computer i don't open anyother window and just give it some tome to complete the scanning because slow speed irritates me so much

I don't know why it does it, but yes, my computer runs slow when I am scanning. This is why at the end of the night , when I am completly done with the computer- I will do all my scanning. Each and every night. It helps. IT makes it go faster too when I do it every night instead of building up . I usually do this while I take the dog out, brush my teeth and get ready for bed. By the time I am ready to get in bed, my computer is usually done with all the scanning and I can just close out, shut the computer off and head to bed.
