Does a best friend have to be from the same class/school/colle that you're from?

I've been thinking about this and lately I've discovered that I'm not that close with my classmates as I used to be. I used to be in a small school where everyone were really close friends and there were no bullies. Then I went to a larger school and things were different. People had so many after school activities that I couldn't really get to know them. When I realized that, I started to search for friends outside of school and found plenty of good friends that had time for me too. Is/was your best friend from your school/class or not?

Im kind of in the same boat. Last year I went to a small school, and I had gone to school with all my class mates since we were in kindergarden so we were all good friends and felt comfortable and had fun. This year i switched to a school probably 3 times bigger and its just not the same. I have met alot of guy friends becuase of my boyfriends, but i havent quite met a good group of girls i feel right around. Sounds weird, but it feels liek when i meet girls now, i have to be fun or impress them becuase they could potentially be good or even best friends of mine. Its been so long since Ive had to make new friends i forget how! lol

I met my best friends at school, but eventually I transferred to another school, they transferred too and basically I lost quite a few friends, but my main ones are still around and despite having other groups of friends, we're still eachothers' MAIN friends and still as close as ever! I don't think it matters if friends are in the same school or not but it's like a long-distance relationship, both/all parties have to make it work and it sometimes isn't that easy!
