I would do that when I had everythign crammed into a really small space. Now I have a large space in my basement. I have an old dresser that got pretty banged up in our last move. It was my oldest baby dresser there is a small typle closet where you could hang thins or have lots of shelf space. So I had wood cut and that is where I store my 12 x12 paper. It also has a few working drawers. I have all of the reject stuff that I really dont want in my main part of the house. I also have an old entertainment unit. That really fits alot of stuff. So yeah those really cool scrapbboking cabinets are neat but if you can think outside of the box you can come up with something. One day I would love to have cabinets like in a kitchen. Boy I better just keep right on dreaming about that!

You know I love the basement for the simple fact that is my table gets to be a mess I do not feel like I need to clean it up. It can stay messy down there for all I care. It's all picked up right now. BUt that is the best part for me! If it were in a bedroom I would feel I need to keep it nice.

You may just find some cupboards at a yard sale too. How do you like being in the basement? I thought of moving mine to a larger bedroom upstairs. I wasn't sure I wanted to go up there all by myself to do it. Right now I am in the computer room where I crammed in a table. We have 2 computers, 2 file cabinets, a dresser, bookshelf and 6x3 table in a room about 8x10!! It is cozy.... I call it "the hole." But, what I like is I can close the door and it can be cluttered and it doesn't bother me. And, my sweetheart is on the computer reading the news or playing his guitar a lot when I am in there. We talk about each having a separate room for our hobby stuff. But, I don't know if I would like it.

If you don't want to go out and buy a commercial scrapbooking organizer, you may be able to organize some of your supplies with large ziplock style bags and small boxes (shoe boxes are a good size).
Sort out your paper and other items according to color, theme, or some other organizational scheme, and put similar items together in a ziplock bag. I put solid colored cardstock in one bag and printed cardstock in another. Depending on how much you have, you may want to split it up a bit more than that.
The boxes are useful for things like adhesives, brads, ribbon, and other small, non-flat items. Sort those out by type, label the boxes, and find a good shelf to store them on. Then it's much easier to choose the one you need, and you will have less to shuffle through before you can get started.

Good advice. It is important to keep even scraps because paper costs money!! I am not so much into the brads and things like that in my scrapbooks, but I also do a little card making. Those things really are not as organized yet. I di make my own Christmas cards this year!
