yes, i do think that today's movies and TV shows get too graphic. But I also understand that as a form of communication, its subliminal message is that " we are living in this context, in this ind of world."
We are exposed to the predisposing factors of these kinds of things so it is very much probable that we acquire the consciousness about these violence (in the real life) and reflect it in the different artforms of our time. As it is said, the art portrays the culture we are in... If you notice how graphic movies become, mybe you should also contemplate of what is really going on beyond your TV screen.
I think "being graphic" does not only apply to visual communication, but also with music. During the ancient times, people's music narrates about their ways of life and their surroundings. A few decades ago, music were mostly love songs (since people got used to the ways of living and cultural matters and shifted their focus beyond the very basic needs to a little bigger thing called love).
Now, it somehow disturbs me the fact that more and more people are singing songs of hatred and anger (and say that its a love song -for brokenhearted people).
So back to your question, yes, i do think that they are getting too graphic, and so is life too in general.

I dont think that all TV shows are that bad. Most of the bad stuff comes on after the kids are asleep. So they dont see most of the violence thath come on television. The words they usse arent as bad as they could be.
