Did you see The Red Wings- The Flames game where the back up goalie for The Flames slashed A Red Wing with his goalie stick? That was not necessary. It gives the fine sport of hockey a black eye. it is hard as it is to get Americans to notice Hockey these days and now this. People who don't know hockey may think this is a normal for hockey. I hope the goalie is banned for the rest of the playoffs and all of next season.Hockey fans, what do you think should happen to this idiot goalie?

That wasn't really a hard or nasty hit at all. It barely even classified as a "slash" and you could tell when he hit him that it was to do one thing, give them a sign that enough was enough with the net crashing the Flames had done throughout the game before. I personally think it was a smart move. It sent a signal, brought it to the attention of the refs (who should have been on it from the beginning) and fired up the team a bit. Had the goalie truly wanted to hurt him he was in a perfect position to do so. He didn't even draw blood for God's sake! With these new rules we've seen a lot more goalies have to take matters into their own hands, which is absolute bull! The defensemen can't push anyone out of the crease or from in front of the goalies anymore without a call and the players are crashing the nets constantly. Luongo took a swing at one of the Dallas players tonight. Perfect reaction to being crashed on more then desired. There was nothing truly "vicious" at all about the hit the Flames player gave and in the end, the guy he "slashed" got the winning goal. That's part of the game, hot heads, ravaging tempers and die hard players. It's going to happen.

I don't mind ravaging tempers and die hard players but I do mind goalies that don't and can't fight taking cheap shots. Last night Luongo handled it correctly last night, he pushed the guy he didn't use his stick.I don't care if it was a love tap , he shouldn't used his stick. If it was Roy or Brodeur, they wouldn't have to raise a finger because the inforcer of the team would start and win a fight with the player that was in the crease. Now that's hockey.

i hate the redwings. if the avalanche were in instead of the flames, the redwings would have been swept by now. they don't have a chance agains vancouver or anaheim. the west is just too powerful. concerning goaltenders.... i don't think with the new rules, that they are protected as much as they should be. so many goalies are getting hurt because players are just crashing into the net. he probably got what was coming to him. bertuzi is the dirtiest player in the nhl, save for sean avery. so chew on that. go AVS!!!

Goal tenders are protected like a quarterback in football.Bertuzzi is the dirtiest player in the NHL.Sean Avery is not as bad. If the avs were in the playoffs without Roy, The Red Wings would have sweep them . With Roy, It would have been a good series but the Red wings would have won 4 games to 2.

I did not see the hit but I heard about it and think that is awful. I am waiting for them to show it on replay. There have been too many incidents like this in hockey as the Islanders Simon got hit with a 25 game suspension not too long ago. Cheap shots like that and this one are uncalled for and hope that he does get suspended for the remainder of the playoffs and at least half of next season. Some of these hockey players should not be in the sport because of their horrible and violent acts.

These kids don't have any respect for their opponents or each other. A true hockey player wouldn't do such stupid things because he knows that he would have a bullseye on his back and there would be hell to pay.it makes me more upset when people, especially the media, dismiss these events and say that is all a part of hockey. It is not.

I'm not a Hockey fan but I know enough about it to know that is way out of line. Personally I think the guy should be up on charges for assault and he should be banned from playing hockey all together. There is no reason for that type of abuse. Yes, everyone knows Hockey can be a bit violent at times but that is beyond acceptable. I cannot imagine what he was thinking in doing this but I do think he should pay the consequences for it.

From your lips to Gary Bedman's ears. Lets hope he is thrown out on his a$$! It wasn't called for. The player didn't do anything to provoke it. and being a goal tender he can't be touched. He doesn't even head to the penalty box when he is called for a penalty.Any other player would think twice before doing something this stupid because he knows he would have a real ffight on his hands.
