What would you feel if one of your favorite students pretended not to see you and headed for another direction? You have been kind to her and given her a lot of extra help in life and study, but after leaving school, you get no news from her and one day you happened to meet with her in the street, but she turned away at once and pretended not to see you. What would you feel? Will this affects you in your way of treating students later on?

Yes at such type of behaviour of one of my favourite I may feel bad for a while. I may think that she has not seen me and not that she has purposely ignored me.Or else she may have something urgent ,so she had gone . And as a teacher we have to take things in a very different way. We teachers cannot react like a commom man. So I will not feel neglected .And certainly it is not going to affect me ,I will always helping students and if needed i can help them by going out of the way.
So as teachers we are different. I hope you agree. Thanks

I guess you are Chinese. As it's well known that most Chinese has the Ah Q Spirit. When we come across some unpleasant things, we tend to comfort ourselves with various reasons by interpreting that behaviou with good will. By doing this way we make ourselves forgetting the unpleasant, but at the same time we know it is not the way you think because intention of some behavious can be clearly seen. But anyway, as teachers, we have our teaching moral and know how to treat our students kindly and responsibliy all right. I wrote the experience here just to show a kind a depression. It won't affect my attitude towards students. Thank you for sharing your thinking with me.

Thanks for the reply. As I said teachers are different. We the teachers have to be v.simple, naive, sometimes not seeing whet you are seeing, and sometimes seeing what you are not seeing. So we are not suppose to keep grudge(as a ture teacher n body will keep, I know)
Many times some student may say something or act in an unpleasent way ,for this we may ignore somtimes ,and where ever it is needed we can talk to them .So a teacher is always learning new things for this new generation.
BY the way I not a Chinese I am an Indian.Thanks.

I don't think it would effect the way I treated other students but it would hurt my feelings. I love all of mine and think they would do so good if I show them everyday that someone cares.

I had been in similar position before. But I guess most probably after some time, the student felt awkward seeing you. Cos there may not be a lot in common after such a period of time.
In any case, as a teacher we should always assist or help our students regardless of whats the outcome.
In any case, it maybe really a case the student did not notice rather than pretending not to see.
