Friendships? when do you know when you have a good friend?

i know when i have a good friend when he can keep my secrets, and that he'll be there for me when i need someone to share my sad stories, and if i'm in trouble he will offer his help. I have only a few of these good friends.

I have lots of good friends wherever i go, and that's my biggest treasure in my entire life. They were always been here for me in good times and bad times. They are always supportive in my decisions and even give me advices in times i am in trouble. We as friends even share in terms of financial, trust each other. We've known each others for years and keep in touch even some already have their own family and busy. We even gather get together for some time, we are all available.

I don't think the time is a factor, as much as the quality of care and concern they have, and you have for them.

I only have one best friend and she lives in my homeland. I know she is my best friends because never even one that she betrayed me since the time we became friends. She is my one and only friend. You know people betrayed you even if they have more than what you have, just because they like to see others crawl and cry. My best friend for 15 years has never done this at all, to me she is worth more than anything that money can buy. We always keep in touch, but how I wish I could be with her instead of living this far.

Hello,marciascott,I do not habe many good friends in the real life,I have two best friends which I have known them for more than 5 years. Good /best friends are different from other friends because they can share laughter and tears with you, they will go along with you in the hard time to get over it. Best.good friends will also know your secrets well,they may only be the few people who know the secrets and not to let other people know.

Someone once said... in life you have very few friends, but you have many aquaintances, to the degree you allow them in your life is up to you. I would have to agree. You have very few true friends in life, They are the ones that stand by you no matter what! Those are the ones that will last a lifetime.

A true friendship is a friend who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself, who will comfort you anytime day or night, who will have your back in any fight, and who you can trust with your life. Someone you can't stay mad at. Friends they make the world a better place to be..besides family I truely do not have any friends besides those people here at mylot. I am a hermitess crab.. I am a homebody that is what my zodiac sign means anyhow I am a cancer.

i don't think you can go by how lng you've known someone some of my best friends are people that i've only known for a short while but have been there for me more in that short time then some of my friends that i've known for years

Truth is, good friends or even best friends come and go. Sometime you can't even tell the difference. The only way to know when you have a good friend is when they are truly willing to put you before themselves. It is not only an act of selflessness, but an act of selflessness for you, and that's what counts.

I have a friend which I have not seen since 35 years. I left him behind in South Africa at that time. The first few years we had monthly contact. Then it fiselled out and we did hear from each other perhaps twice a year. And then internet came and with it email. And our contacts are frequent now. And soon we shall meet. I wonder how he looks like. I have another friends of 12 years. We meet about 6 to 7 times a year. This is because I am working in a foreign country and come back a few times per year.
