What is the Ultimate Destiny for Human Beings

What are we building towards, and why are we now moving so fast?Are we trying to become gods or are we trying to reach God but minus the whole death part?I mean, what I'm trying to say is: Human beings are parasites, we suck natural resources and some of them are not renewable. We search further outwards (into space) and further inwards (into the earth and the oceans) looking for even more things to exploit. Are we just trying to exist until there is nothing left?
