okay, we'll assume you can all sing and dance and act, although chances are we all can't. hehe.
at the moment on TV we have two different reality TV programmes auditioning people for roles in Grease and Joseph. these are no doubt cashing in on the popularity of one they did for The Sound of Music a while back.
so.
assuming you could sing and dance and act well enough to really enjoy doing it, which character from which stage musical would you most like to play?I think I would most enjoy playing Janet in The Rocky Horror Show.
I think she's a brilliant character. her development throughout the show as a person is something I think would be a good challenge to play. you get the impression that rather than being corrupted, instead she's finding her true self, rather than just being who other people want her to be.
I love her fascination with Frankie and Rocky
she also gets some of the best songs and some of the best scenes.
although Frankie has the best costumes.

I love this question, especially because I am an actor! :D
I've been very lucky to play some pretty terrific roles in musical theater. My favorites to play are either huge character stretches, or some sort of technical challenge.
I played Vibrata in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The only identifier in the script for her character is that she's intended for "the man whose interest is wildlife." That was a lot of fun - especially the hair and makeup! I had tiger stripes on my face in shimmery gold colors and my hair was streaked and teased out in an afro! It was definitely a huge stretch for me, because I'm... not exactly modest and demure, but I'm definitely not totally wild and out there either. It was a lot of fun.
I also played Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, which was a huge character stretch - she's such a goody two-shoes! But it was a terrific role, and hey, it's never too shabby playing the lead!
I can't say I have any particular dream roles, though. I've always wanted to play Florence in Chess, and Mama in Chicago (or one of the murderesses - the last one, who killed Alvin Lipschitz). Lucy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown would be a ton of fun, too, although not much of a challenge for the character. I'd also love to play Elphaba in Wicked, and Ruthie in Bat Boy. There are so many great shows out there, and so many great characters to go along with it! One show I'd seriously love to do and hopefully have more than just an ensemble part in (not that I'm opposed to ensemble work, I'm not, but this really is a special show for me) is Oklahoma. Especially Ado Annie or Laurie, but I wouldn't mind playing anyone else either!

I would love to play Sandy in "Grease". I love the singing and dancing in that musical!
I would also love to play Belle in "Beauty and the Beast".
I love the play/musical "Les Miserables". There are a couple of characters I would love to play, but can't think of their names at the moment!

It would have to be Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. I'm Jewish, but I have always thought that this is a really good part and the songs are in my vocal range. The only trouble I'd have is the dancing part. I've done some acting before, but it always had very limited footwork. Maybe I'll get a chance to play this role someday. Maybe once I get closer to the chaacters age I'll make more of an effort to get that part.

I love musical theatre. I don't think I could pick just one role though as there are so many really good ones that interest me. I really love the bytchy characters like Aldonza from Man of La Mancha and Eva Peron in Evita. But then I like some of the more emo roles like Nancy from Oliver or Fantine from Les Mis. But I guess if I have to pick only one it would be Madame Thernardier from Les Mis because its just a hilarious role I could have fun with.

If I had the looks & the youth I'd like to be the WAC in South Pacific (the one that gets to sing "I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair.")
Now I'd probably do better as Bloody Mary in the same show.

I'd love to play Frenchie in Grease. I love her character, her mannerisms and her storyline. It helps that she's really pretty with a cute accent too! I'm a huge fan of the Rocky Horror Show, but I don't think I could do any of the characters in it justice... x
