Do you bring along a comb when you go out?

He was standing next to me, just 5 inches to my left. He was close, uncomfortably close, and he was making big, wild gestures.
We were in a public toilet and he was combing his hair. What were you thinking of anyway? :P
I thought it was strange for a guy to bring along a comb. I know it was popular in perhaps the 70's or 80's when the trend was to smear thick gel all over your hair. But isn't it the 21st century already? I don't even know any friend who brings along a comb when he goes out.
To all you guys and gals out there, do you bring along a comb or hairbrush when you are out of your house? If you are traveling, you are entitled to grooming equipment of course. But if you are just out of your house doing anything else, do you? If yes, why? Do share your thoughts. ;-)

LOL, baby, how come you find it strange that there are guys who are also bringing a comb. I think you live and breathe each day leaving your hair sticking out of nowhere.
I have a very long hair, honey. See, I'm not even afraid to tell you that. I always bring along a comb inside my purse. I rarely comb my hair in public places though. I was always in a hurry and just wish to anyone above my hair is still in its tidy order.

Hello charms88, yes I agree with you entirely. It is not just a matter of vanity carrying a comb, it is a practical thing to do. What would be the point of combing your hair in the first place if you intend to go out into strong winds and leave your hair in a mess when you arrive somewhere? This is a simple case of ensuring that you look presentable whatever happens.

I have short hair bunny. I do part my hair but I do it before I leave my house. If it gets messed up a little, I just use my hands to make it right. Beats carrying a comb around. :P

I don't bring along a comb or brush in my purse, but we do keep one in our vehicle, mostly for our girls to brush their hair, it is long and does not take long before it needs to be brushed. I know my boyfriend carries a comb in his pocket all the time.

I have a comb stashed at work, because my hair certainly has a mind of its own. I know lots of people who take a comb, brush, makeup and a toothbrush along when they leave the house. They just do not use these things in public. That is why there are restrooms with mirrors. That is where the stattement a "lady" in the 50's or 60's would excuse herself to "go powder her nose" if she needed to leave to go to the restroom. I recognize we live in different parts of the world, and I actually know it may even be different in different parts of the US. I can just tell you about me and my friends.

My Mum doesn't bring along a comb in her bag though. Or does she? Hmm.. have to ask her lol. :P

I don't! I carry a big purse with me any time I leave the house but it has everything in it but a comb or brush of course 90% of the time when I do leave I have my hair pulled up in a ponytail so figured not carrying brush with me leaves room in my purse for more stuff :)
I do however have a brush in the glovebox of my van - just in case.

Heck, if I can't shove it in a pocket, I'm not carring it. Once in a great while I'll actually carry my purse, but not most of the time. Credit card, driver's license & folding money in one pocket, keys in another & change in the, so called, watch pocket.

I own a comb.
However, 9 out of 10 days I don't use it..or comb my hair...prefer it sticking up everywhere.

I never have a brush with me. I have long, naturally curly hair. To brush or comb it would make it frizzy so I never brush it after my wet comb/brush after a shower. I might use my hands to pull it back into a ponytail or something but for the most part I rarely need to mess with it. It's one of the benefits of naturally curly hair!

well i usually bring a brush with me, because my hair knots right up all the time, even if there's not much of a wind, so on the off chance that it knots up while I'm out, i have the brush with me, usually i don't have to use it, but it's there.
I guess i like to be neat and everything all the time, so i have everything with me that is necessary for that :P

No I don't bother with such things as this . If your hair is going to get that messy from being outside then it is going to be messy weather you bring along a comb or not unless you are going to spend your entire time combing your hair :)
I will bring a comb along if we are going some place special and I want to fix my little one's hair before we go in as they are always playing with their hair and I don't like it when it is in their eyes so I will comb it back and put in an elsastic but in the van they always take the elastic out for some reason so if I want them to look nice then I will take a comb to do a quick job on their hair before we go in some place but that would be about the only time I would be concerned as in life we can't worry about what we look like all the time as long as we are presentable :)

Thankfully I don't have the kind of hairstyle that needs combing. I fix my hair in the morning as I like to wear it that day and if I need to touch it up, I use my fingers. I don't think I would have room in my pocketbook anyway for another thing so I'm glad I don't have to carry one.

No, I don't even take one when I go travelling most of the time. Just bring a hat and then you've got yourself a valid excuse to have messy hair. :p I never got into the whole gel thing as I found it a serious pain to deal with, and my hair did whatever it felt like doing anyway. I just decided to let it.

I always carry one in my bag, out of habit lol. Is that a bad thing? I rarely use it but it is more of a habit. Under arm lotion and comb always in bag hahah. What a funny discussion lol. Wizzy, you never cease to amaze me really.

I have very long, very thick wavy hair. If I did not keep a brush or LARGE comb in my purse, I would look like a chia pet at any given time. I live very near the "Windy City" in Illinois and we are hardly ever without wind. My hair blows every which way. I have always been envious of the woman that can go out dancing, partying, whatever and come home with their make up and hair exactly as they left. I can use many products from gel, mousse to hairspray and still have "crazy hair" So keeping these items close by is an absolute must for me. Some men do need combs as well. My husband shaves his head very close, not bald, but close. It would look quite funny if HE carried a comb.

the funny thing is, i've not use a comb for...i think...like when i was in primary school. heheehhe. i just let my natural fingers to be the comb. my hair is easy to shape/handle. so i guess i don't need a comb to manage them. cheers

bringing a comb along is so old fashioned....but as long as I used to work I used to have one in my desk.
I never carry a comb along I have short hair ofcourse it goes all wild on me when it gets windy or rainy but I just suck it up and run my fingers along to get them looking proper never carry a brush ( I do not use combs only a trusted brush ), brush also takes a whole lot of space in my bag so I avoid it totally. I have too many other important things to carry in my bag to fit in a hairbrush. and I don't think any of friends do either.
thanks for asking wizard. :)

cash just about $20 bill and plastic just 2 cards plus an identity card. nah I have a very small purse I also carry my little camera and my I-pod along to most of the places hence the space shortage, can not leave music and memory making devices behind so no hairbrush!
