Assualt: Have you been and how did you get over it?

Have any of you been assualted ever...either sexually or physically? By who and how did you deal with it and get over it? Personally, I was sexually assualted and never faced it until I was ready to get married because then I was a little more level headed and wanted the person that did it to be held responsible for it. He was my boyfriend at the times best friend. Well he also did it to a friend of mine and she prosecuted him and he spent 3 years in prison. I never went after him because my boyfriend at the time threatened my life if I did. I regret not doing it to this day but I cant go back now. I believe that I still have some issues to this day from it, just wondering how has other people dealt with them?

I was sexually assaulted by my boyfriend when I was fifteen. He took me to a dance about half an hour from home and got me away from everyone else. It took me several years to get over it because I never told anyone that it had ahappened. I finally told my current husband when we started getting really serious because I was afraid that I would not be able to get close to him. I think that is when I finally started to deal with it and get over it. I was twenty when I got married. II still to this day have nightmares but they are mangable now since I have let go of most of the pain. I never told anyone because I was afraid of what my parents would do to him. I am now going to school to become a marriage and family therapist to help others.
