Both of my kids have been given this and now my son will be 2 and it does nothing for him anymore. Is this medicine not that strong or do kids buold a tolerance to it quickly. He has had it about 6 times probaly and now they always have to give him something stronger. So what do you think? My daughter has had it once and it cleared her up right away. Proably because she hasnt ever had anythign before.

anybody will start building up a tolerance for all antibiotics if they are given them enough. This is why I try natural cures and the "let the sickness run it's course" type of cures for my kids. I do take them to the doc, but only when absolutely necessary! I don't want them to build up a resistance so when/if something horrible happens, the meds won't work.

I think you are right on. Check out this site for some natural alternatives to just about anything..... http://www.ahealthcafe.com/cgi-bin/team.cgi?id=li24653&action=show

Yep! Our bodies build tolerance to them. That is why most doc's try not to give kids med's right away unless it is absolutly a must.

Yep, they can build up a resistance. My sister used to be on antibiotics all the time for every little thing, eventually she kept creeping up to stronger and stronger antibiotics. She has her children on prescriptions for every thing too, I don't think she learned. Most infections can clear up on their own if they have a good diet. My son has had an ear infection, we just put some garlic oil in his ear and it cleared up. A few months ago, my son and my sisters children all got a head cold, there's turned into sinus infections and she got her kids more antibiotics-they were on those for a month. Her children eat a lot of junk food and my son is a fruit and veggie lover. I gave my son some homeopathic cold medicine and he was cured within a week.

It is one form of penicillin and it can be of different strenghts. Having said that drs now try not to give antibiotics unless they need to because bugs can build up a resistance to them! My daughter is allergic to all penicillins and we have to be very careful what she is given! If I were you I would ask your doctor if the strength of medicine given you was weaker than it could have been! xxx

I don't believe in any of those medications. I believe you should seek natural remedies that get rid of the illness at the root instead of covering it up.
