At one point in time Petco really did seem to have "The Pets Come First" mind set and hired knowlegeable people for each department. The knowledge that the people at Petco had was one of the reasons Petco claimed they had higher prices. However under new ownership that took place about 7 months back Petco has made it perfectly clear, MONEY COMES FIRST! THE PET'S COME LAST! I say this because they went from feeding small animals small animal food to putting everything on compressed corn lab blocks with very little nutrition in them. Lab blocks were far cheaper for Petco to use because the animals ate them out of the need to live and not because they enjoyed it. When they did this OVERNITE they did not take into conciferation that the animals they get each week are ALWAYS at the most 4 weeks old, not old enough to leave their mother, 6 weeks is the right age to take them away and they have a fighting chance of living. Many, Many small animals die daily at Petco because of simple STARVATION. ONLY THE STRONGEST SURVIVED. They did the same with the bedding it went from Carefresh to some crap that had so much dust, twigs, dirt bits and charcol bits and what appeares tp be LINT not newspaer like Carefresh uses. This NEW BEDDING they use on al,ost all their animals makes them sneeze,get respitory infections. It turns anything that is white to gray FOR REAL! Small animals such as hamsters move their bedding from place to place by putting it in their mouths to move it. This NEW BEDDING is so fine that some of the hamsters accidently swallowed this fine dusty crap which expanded in the hamsters stomachs and killed them eventually in about 4 days. The CORPORATE PEOPLE were made aware of these facts but because they got it at a cheaper price they continue to use it. Showing that the pet's come last. The hamsters sllep on top of their domes to get away from this garbage bedding they are forced to live in. CORPORATE did the same to their birds by Changing the food they have eaten their entire lives over nite to another food that CORPRATE got at a great price. They were not slowly weaned onto this food they were just given this new food and many didn't like it and many starved and died do to this MONEY SAVING DEAL they got. Then one day without a word the stores could no longer order this GREAT FOOD. The deal must have ended and after every store called all the others stores to barrow this food until they could get this new food ordered only to find Nobody could order this food as it was no longer there. So these birds were put back on the origional food they had always eaten before. So all those birds dies for nothing! So to end this I will say that Petco has more then proven that at Petco The Pet's Come last!!!Money is the 1st and formost thing Petco cares about. What are your believes on the things I have stated?
