Just about yesterday, i was hangin down the stairs and cleaning up. I've watch a convoy of ants on the wall.
I spent a couple of minutes watching them. One of the things that i have seen is they kiss each other everytime they cross their way. It's not just once but all the time. So i ask myself what's the reason that they're doing like that. And they dont go straight ahead. They're fond of routing like wave.
What do you think guys is the reason that ants kiss each other everytime they cross their path?
Thanks a lot for your responses and expect to have good ratings....

Im not quite sure but I think its their way of communication through their hormones( I forgot the specific name for it).Thats why they also walk in trails.they follow the smell of the hormone of the other ant. That is why also when you killed an ant after few minutes try to look at it and there are so many ants already.HEHEHe..hope I got it right.thats what I can remember from my science class in elementary :)

I always see this number of ants in most of our wall. Base on my observation, they do such thing to inform each and everyone of something. I think this their way of communicating things. They really look like kissing each other. I enjoy watching them walking in one line. Sometimes I see some group of ants carrying a cochroach. I wonder if they also eat such.

i think alot of the time they are passing food and other things like water to each other, as well as a mode of communication. i like that, well i kiss my hubby all the time when i am with him lol, because we spend half the year apart, and so we relish every minute we have together, well i do lol.

My understanding is that it's a form of communication. I think there is a chemical exchange of sorts that goes on when they do this. It indicates, where food is, danger and location of the nest. I think it also helps identify members of the same nest. Thank god for discovery channel. Hope this answers your question
