The last two times I have cut meat to prepare it to cook I have cut myself. This time was my nail bed and the side of my finger. Lovely. I just hope I don't loss my nail. Its very sore though and I have already gone through three band aids in the hour and half since I have done it.
When was the last time you cut yourself while cutting something??

Ewww...I am so sorry sweetie.
I know that had to hurt, especially where it was cut at!!
It must be really bad it you have already gone through three band aids!
I'm sorry. :(
I guess I haven't cut myself recently because I don't remember the last time I cut myself.
I know that I did use to cut myself every time I shredded cheese. Know matter what...I always seemed to find a way to cut myself.
I even one time sliced my wrist on the shredder. That was bad!! Seriously!
I have the scar to prove it to you!! :)
Again though, I am sorry!

Yes, keep in mind...you shred the cheese and not the fingers holding the cheese. ha ha
But hey, I used to do that too. :)
I want one of those things that holds the food for you and you just slide the handle back and forth. Then no more shredded fingers in with the shredded cheese. LOL

Ouch!!! Are you sure you don't need stitches sweetie!!! That sounds painful and if you are still bleeding like that, you might want to go get some help.
Going through you nail bed has got to hurt horribly!!!
If not stitches, they sell liquid band-aids. It is like super glue that is activated by the q-tip they give you to apply it with. This will help to seal up the nail its self. Cause you could get an infection in that.
Sorry, I am sure you know what your doing. The mommy in me just wants to take a look at your finger and fix it up.
As for cutting meat. I have gotten better at it. But I used to cut myself often too. Now, I just burn myself a lot. ha ha It has been said that I can't do anything in the kitchen without getting hurt at some point. ha ha But, I keep going back in there. ha ha

Its not bleeding as much now
its slow down quite a bit since I have put this last band aid. Jason says I didn't get the nail bed that much just nicked it and mostly got the side of my finger. He just got home and my bandaid was to tight so he was able to see it.
I don't do well in the kitchen either, as you can tell. lol Which is why Jason does most of it. Though I am trying to be better about it now.

That is an Ouch!
Where it was cut must have really hurt.
The liquid band aid does help a lot.
And, it falls/comes off when it is ready and healed.
That is the great thing about it!
I tend to slightly burn myself in the kitchen as well.
However, recently I did burn myself on the oven really bad. :(
But, I do pretty good in the kitchen! :D

Glad to read that it stopped bleeding.
But if I were you, I would probably invest in that Medical Super Glue. ha ha
It is put out by Band-Aid and it is a non-stinging formula.
It works really great and will stop you from getting an infection.
And if you hold the cut closed, it also helps to reduce the scarring to a very thin line that you would never notice. :)
I can imagine that it would really help too on the nail. When you type it must really hurt!
Take care sweetie! Glad to read you are ok. :)

Ouch! Maybe you should try putting an ice pack of sort on it. It will help slow the bleeding and help the pain a bit. Is it stitchable? Make sure to keep your hand above the level of your heart as much as you can. This too will help the bleeding. Now, on to your question, I very seldom cut myself because I don't cut the food anymore. I have my slave, I mean my boyfriend, do that.lol. But about a week ago I got a little knick from a knife that I had put in the dishwater. I forgot it was there and when I went to do dishes, it bit me.lol.

I have issues with hurting myself in the kitchen, at least in the past month or so. lol Which is why Jason does most of the cooking/preparing. lol

Did you know that most people cut themselves while using dull knives? They apply more pressure and usually have to "saw" through things that makes it easier to cut oneself. If you use sharper knives there is actually less chance of cutting yourself, unless you're just being careless. I haven't cut myself in a very long time ... probably because I have really great knives! They're Cutco and I'll never use a different brand.

actually the knives are sharp enough...its me that isn't that bright lol
first Jason said I was using the wrong knife to cut the meat with, but I always use that knife for it. Always lol
And then of course I was cutting off fat so was holding the fat when I got cut

Ouch!! I hate when that happens. I can say it has been over ten years since i have cut myself like that. I think the last time I did it was a sharp edge of a can. I really can't evenremeber cutting myself while cutting food. I do know how bad they hurt though. Cuts really hurt especially when you have to put the in soapy water after wards. I hope it gets better quick.

Many times, usually when cutting vegetables or herbs. The technique is to curl your fingers away from the knife and to rest the blade against your knuckles. If holding skin or a bone, always cut away from your hand. The sharper the knife, the less likely you are to cut yourself, strange as it may seem!
