Any remedies for poison ivy?

My youngest son, who is 8, has poison ivy across his stomach. I am just wondering if anyone has any home remedies in which will try it up faster than to be expected. We tried a couple of things already such as, vicks vapor rub and my son said that yes that did take the itch right away but after some time he didn't like the feel of it and was complaining that it was burning. I have heard of using vinegar, baking soda, oatmeal and the dawn dish soap mixture. But I am not just looking for something to take care of the itch. I need some home remedies in which to heal the poison ivy first. Could you please share them with me? I feel so bad with my little guy because I have had poison ivy a number of times and I know how miserable it can make you feel...oh the itching is terrible. Thanks in advance for all the post. =)
