College or university is an institution of education, knowledge and other social activities hence i feel it should not be restricted to a handful of intellectual people only;On contrary it should be meant for all to develop both moral and intellectual skills.

Welcome to mylot, tuhpaul. Happy postings and see you around until forever. I agree with your views about giving everyone the opportunity to go to college and to include the development of those who are there in moral and spiritual aspects, too, as a plus to their intellectual development.

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to go to college. Just because they are not that smart, or because they didn't do as well as their other classmates in high school does not mean that they should be robbed of a chance to get a good education that could help them to live better lives.
Others would argue that some students who do get to go to college just take it for granted and don't show any signs of appreciation to the chance given to them. They don't study, they get low or failing marks, they don't attend class, and all that they seem to do is to party. I agree with this, some students are like this, but what's important is that we gave them the chance to do something with their lives and they themselves chose not to take that chance! There are a lot of students out there who are not as smart and did not graduate as topnotchers in their high school, but are just as deserving as other students!

I think its up the the student. I mean even if you are the smartest if you dont want college you will not do well. Sometimes the so called dumb kids want it enough they can do well. I feel its all about desire. And not desire for college girls/boys.

I believe that eveyone deserves to be given the opportunity to attend college or the university. Not only those who had remarkable achievements in high school are serious about finishing a college degree. There are some who maybe so-so while in high school, but they give everything they've got when pursuing a college course. I notice this because, there were some classmates of mine in high school who had barely passing marks and yet, when we were in college, they had remarkable achievements.
There are some of us who get the shock of our lives to know that there were those who used to be very good at the start, that is during their freshman year at college, then we hear that they didn't manage to finish for lack of interest. Instead, they get carried away by so many bad things, we call them bad influence and bad friends.

I think anyone who wants to go should go. IF you have the grades to get accepted to University, I think you should go. It's hard to get a decent paying job in the US without a college degree.Heck, if you want to climb the corporate ladder, you need advanced degrees. You can't get much above minimum wage without a bachelor's degree or at least an associates degree. You don't have to be top of your class in high school to get into college.

I think that everyone should be given an opportunity to attend college. I would never been able to go to college if they only took the best and brightest. My cumulative GPA in high school was only 2.25. In college it was 2.67. But in graduate school it was 3.73. I am glad that I had the opportunities to prove myself.

I think anyone who wants to should have a chance to go to college. I have known many people who weren't the "smartest" who have studied very hard and been successful. I have a friend who is a nurse, who didn't even finish high school as a kid, but got her GED later and then went on to college. She's an awesome nurse, and she's one of the most hard-working people I know. I can't imagine what life would be like if people like her didn't get a second chance!

I don't believe college is for everyone . My two oldest girls have different aspects that they want in life but I don't feel one is better then the other , it is just where their interests lie .
One of my daughters would like to go to college and be a vet but my other daughter would like to go to a trade school to become a photograper . I don't believe that the one that wants to go to college is any better over the other one and believe that as long as one is doing in life what they aspire to do then that is what counts .
Being smart is something that we are born with and not everyone can be as smart as everyone else in life but this does not mean they can not be as happy with what they do in life or that they will necessarily make it further in life .
I don't believe that education should be reserved for only the smarter as anyone who has enough determintation will get further then even the person who is smarter as the person who is smarter may not take the extra time to put in a little more effort because they are so used to things coming easier to them whereas the person who may not be as smart but has determination will do all they can to ensure success :)
