i got both. prepaid is more cost efficient. post-paid means you need to have serious money management skills because if you dont you'll be neck deep in debt.
right now i really prefer post-paid because its more convenient for me. i dont call that much i mainly use it for the SMS service. my plan gives me like about 300-350 free SMS every month so its all good.

Hello,subha12, I think prepaid and postpaid have their advantages. I had tried both before. When I was using prepaid , i tend to control the usuage, especially when the balance was running low because I did not want the calls to be terminated due to lack of balance, I would have recharged it before the balance was too low, but sometimes, i might forget to recharge and I might not be able to finish some important calls.
There might not be any problems in post paid as you just paid depend on your usage, I paid the bills through automatic transfer, so i did not actually know how much did i spend on the phone every month ,I had to check it,sometimes, I might lose control and talk too much and need to pay for an expensive bills.

I pay my bill monthly. It is always the same. If you get a plan with enough minutes and coverage you need, then you should not go over your limit. I had the prepaid before and was not happy with the service at all. I have 3 lines so I have a family plan with 1000 minutes monthly, it works out fine for us to share. They have alot of different plans geared towards different types of people.

I prefer prepaid connection instead of post paid one, as in post paid you will not have any idea that how much have you spend, and will get a shock at the end of month, however in case of prepaid connection, you have already set a limit for money, so it is under control, and also i think we usually get more facilities with prepaid than postpaid

I am using postpaid, I've never used prepaid before. I'm just too lazy to purchase the top up amount if my prepaid runs out of money. although I'm using postpaid, I do keep track of my calls and make sure that I use my mobile wisely. .

I have never used a prepaid phone before. I always just get the bill and then pay it. Actually, I got a new phone though and my mom has been paying the bill for me. I told her I would pay her each time the bill comes but she never will let me know how much it is.

There are disadvantages and advantages to each, I will list some of each.
Prepaid:
Advantages
No credit checks. If you have bad credit these phones can be a good option.
A spending limit. If you are the type that just LOVES to spend more then you have, prepaid is good for you. It sets a limit for you and if you go over you have to buy more minutes.
Generally the phone and the cards are less expensive. For example, sometimes you can buy a prepaid phone for 20 USD and it comes with a prepaid card with it!
Disadvantages:
With prepaid, if you don't use your minutes by a certain time they expire.
If you use a lot of minutes talking it can be expensive.
Many plans do not offer free nighs and weekends, so you have to use minutes that you could otherwise get free with postpaid.
If you are an important call, it could be annoying if it cuts off and then you cannot continue the call :(.
Postpaid
Advantages:
With many plans they give you a free phone so there is no need to pay for the phone like with prepaid.
Free nights and weekends, you do not use minutes in your plan during that time and it can be good if you talk and talk.
Just like pre-paid, postpaid can be set up with a spending limit. If you go over that you have to make a payment. However, if you don't set a limit you could get extra fees for text messages, ringers and any other premium content. It could add a lot of cost to your bill.
Many times if you want to add an extra phone they give it to you for free and charge you a small fee for it each month. For example, with a family plan they may charge you 10 USD for the second phone and 5 USD for the third phone. It is nice because you get them all on one bill and you share the minutes.
Disadvantages:
Generally you have to sign a contract which is usually for 2 years. If you are not satisfied you have to pay a high fee to end the contract such as 150 USD.
Many times people do not activate the spending limit on their post paid account, so many people can add money to the bill by using premium content such as ringers, wallpapers, games, texting, etc.

For me since, i really don't have much contacts to call or text- i do prefer prepaid- This way i can only purchase my usuall consumption and it saves me a lot of money. |But if in case i get to have my own business or if the job im going to have requires me to be in constant communication with them, then i think that post paid is the way to go. Here in the Philippines post paid lines do have more advantages than pre paid lines for the enterpreneurs and post paid rates are much cheaper by the minute than pre paid rates. Its like having discounts for bulk orders. =)

Iam using a prepaid service but its a 6 month validity card which is very much cost effective. Its more beneficial than monthly recharge.Nowdays these service providers compete with one another in providing new schemes to attract people.Even yesterday while getting recharge coupan for my brother the shop keeper informed me that there is a new scheme mentioninig the company name. But i think changing mobile numbers frequently will result only in waste time to inform the new number to our relatives and friends.

I too prefer prepaid if my usage is low. However, in Singapore, there is a top-up period which I hate. I had a prepaid subscription once and forgot to top-up when due, the prepaid card becomes invalid and I never look back anymore. I am using postpaid now :P

Hi, I m also using prepaid connection because limitation of account through postpaid connection is not possible, in case of any problem if we want balance on mobile best way keeping scratch cards through which we can easily recharge our mobile in time. So i think prepaid connection is best and compatible or not expensive facility as compare to postpaid connection.

mine is prepaid, and tht too damn cheap than the postpaid one...... u tell me one feature which undermines the entire prepaid thing? it provides flexibility, control, and above all relief from paying bill here and there.....definately postpaid connection must have its own advantages like getting bill, which many professional needs to get the reimbursement from their office, but on the whole i think its the prepaid connection which score pretty above the postpaid one :)
