Hi Ashley, It looks the same story as mine. My baby also wa born 15days prior to the Doc's date and that was on OCT 21st 2006. He too has completed his 6months day before, and he is doing well. Apart from juices, give ur baby fruits(a small part of one fruit a day) like watermelon, orange, BANANA(Very good). I have a very good recipe, which you can use for your baby also. But it is a little long procedure. Let me know if you will be interested.

At this age you can introduce Raagi Java. This is very good for the Blood circulation and easily digestible.
How to prepare:Ingredients: You will get all these ingredients in Indian Super markets. For 1KG of Raagi, 250gms Groundnuts, 100gms cashew nuts, 250gms Boiled Rice, 250gms wheat, 250gms Toor Dal, 100gms Badam and 250gms Sabudana.
1)Take Raagi from the Super market, soak them overnight and tie them in a cloth till they are sprouted. It might take two or three days, keep sprinkling the water till u see the sprouts.Remove them from the cloth and dry them for 2 days.
2)Fry all the ingredients till very little brown.
3)Get this ground in the Flour mill...tell them especially, that this is for the kid and make very soft.
The cooking: Take a thick vessel, put 4-5 spoons of Ragi powder and add 1-2 big glasses of water and stir them properly and place on the stove. Keep on Sim and keep stirring for 15minutes.
Now it is ready for feeding: 1) You can add 3tbs of sugar and give it to the child or 2)Take a big glass, add half of Java preparation to it and half of Milk. Filter it well using Tea filter. Add 3tbs of sugar and Pour into the feeding bottle and feed.
HAPPY FEEDING :-)

As a starter to solid food, I have a great start up recipe for you. And your baby won't have a hard time to adjust to solid food after.
For my two children, I used to cook some rice. Just a few grain with a not so a lot of water. It will depends on the thickness desired and the amount you need. And once they are cooked and very soft. I'll put them in the a strainer, the smaller the holes the better, usually the one you use for flour.
After you put it back in the casserole. Cook it for a while. It will become like a liquid puree of rice. You can make it thick or thin. And you can add it to your baby's milk.
Instead of water, this rice liquid puree will be your base for her milk. So it is a good introduction to solid food. You can give it to her as often as you want. But don't forget to alternate with water ha. You can add sugar if you want, but the rice itself with milk is already tasty and kind of sweet. And it is healthy.
If you have cooked too much, you can store it in a clean termos. It last almost more than a day. And from my experience with my two kids, they were healthy and very heavy, not heavy overweight ha, heavy has a tough body. Strong. Hope you'll like it. Have a nice day Ashley! (^^,)

Your little one can have just about anything, mashed potato is always a good starter - they also enjoy sweet potato, pumpkin & things like that.
You can always just puree whatever you're having for dinner - fairly tick though so she can learn to chew.
Finger foods are ok as well - try some toast for breakfast - she might gag a little but keep an eye on her as it's just a matter of practice!
My daughter loved banana pieces, she would enjoy sucking on a slice of orange, she also liked fruit sticks - just try a few different things & see what she likes! Just go with veggies first so they get used to that before the yummy sweet stuff!
Good Luck!

I made baby food for my two daughters and will do it again for my next baby. At six months I would make:
1. sweet potatoes (just bake until soft, then puree with a little water),
2. ripe avocado (scoop out and puree with a little water),
3. peaches (steam until soft, then puree with the steamed water since it's flavored with the peach juice). you can do the same with apples
You really can just come up with what fruit/vege you want to feed your child and you just cook it and puree with water to get a good consistency. I then froze extra in ice cube trays so I could get it out, pop it in the microwave to thaw, and feed to baby. Easy!
