What is a junk mail??not junk email..!

I came across this word on the net and i am not sure what this is..can any one explain??What 's this junk mail?

Junk mail is mail received from someone you don't know and usually selling something you don't want and that you didn't ask for.
This can be ordinary mail in your post box or letter box but is now applied to email as well.

I wonder is he talking about Junk mail on Mylot, we get alot of that. But this is a talk forum, who is to say.

Mail that you have no use for, I always get Junk Mail. if you don't have your pop-up blocker on you will get this junk mail. I have pop-upblocker, but still get this, that is because I have signed up for so many things on the internet.

to simply put it, junk mails are "junk".
junk mails are emails that are of no importance. these are emails that are usually filtered by email servers, declared to be spam or fraud, and can also be filtered by users themselves.
