None other than the Windows Vista chief distributor in Beijing revealed that only 244 genuine copies of Vista were sold out in the first 2 weeks of it's famous release. What are your feelings about this?DO you think they are avoding technology of the west??

No. I think that:
1. It's too expensive, and they can get a pirated version of vista for a very cheap price.
2. Do you really need to switch to Vista right now? Everything seems to be working well with XP. It doesn't seem that Vista adds anything to the computer process (except more memory requirement). Perhaps in the next year when all application need to work with Vista, then will people switch.
I don't think it's the case of chinese people avoiding the technologies of the west. It's just economics

your reply is great! and i am side with you!
the property rights can't be protected well in china, so you can buy a pirated version of it with a very cheap price. and you know the hardware requirement of vista is much higher than xp and a extra large cost will occur if you switch your operation system to the vista.
so in china particular property protection situation, the choice of xp or the pirated vista is optimal based on the economical principle. if i were the user, i may continue to use the xp

In India also only few peoples are using Vista.I think it takes one or two more years to take to migrate from xp to vista.I also istalled Vista in my computer, but not satisfied with it.The performance is not good even with 512MB of ram.I think only with 1GB,we will get the better performance.Same thing happened with Xp also.At the initial stages, every one used windows 98 only. After one years people slowly start using xp.Now every one is using XP.Same thing is happening with Vista also.
