The benefit to urban living, is that people take up less space to live. People don't NEED to have their own individual lawns and parks. Put them in a city where they can have a park to visit. This saves the RURAL land for agrarian use. Which provides food for all the people. I think people who AREn'T farmers should live in an urban setting and allow the open land to be used to grow food and animals. SO the problem... is SUBurbia....

I definitely prefer an urban area. The reminder that I'm surrounded by activity and people makes me feel alive, as well as safe and secure; in other words, not alone. Also, there's a blend of multiple cultures and races --- I couldn't live without diversity and the open-mindedness that comes along with it. Urban environments also provide everything I need, anytime. Shops are actually open 24 hours so when I need a drink at 4AM and there's nothing in the fridge, I just go to the deli down the corner. It makes me feel like I'm getting the most out of life, especially for an impatient insomniac such as myself.

My preferance is rural without question. I live on a 12 acre farm.
I do not farm it but love the space and piece and quite it affords.

i have lived in every type of setting probably and to tell you the truth i would always want to live in the country. i like hearing the animals at night instead of cars. i like being able to let my kids play and not have to worry about it near as much. i love the view from all of my windows. i like being able to open my door and my windows and not worry about who can see in them. i do miss being able to go to the store and get back home quickly though. i miss having things close by. but i would rather do the drive and have the bueaty, safety, and sounds that i have in the country.

Not too rural, not too urban. Its got to be lively enough that you dont' feel isolated. Its got to be rural enough that you are able to own large areas of land around your house. I like to keep animals so I'll prefer to have a big place for them the run about.
