I'm agree with you. i find something interesting research : Cats are the purr-fect pal, with both men and women saying they would prefer to wake up with their cats (46%) than their partner (26%). Cats are the new 'babe magnet' - 98% of single women would prefer to date someone who loves cats and amongst women who are attached, 86% said that a cat enhances, or could enhance, their relationship. Research showed that both sexes believe that having a feline friend reflects what kind of person you are, with 94% saying that that owning a cat showed you were 'caring', 83% % said kind and 36% said sensual." Owners surveyed also said that curling up with their cat was a great way to beat stress. When feeling uptight, those questioned would much rather have a snuggle with Tiddles than have a massage (66%), phone a friend (64%) or have a drink (52%) Cats are now the nation's favorite pet. Latest figures show 7.5 million have a feline friend, compared with 4.9 million in 1979. Most popular among those aged 35-44, latest figures reveal that nearly a third (27.8%) of all people in the UK in this age group have a cat. By comparison there are approximately 6.1 million pet dogs, with dog ownership being most popular among the 45-54 age group. Increased urban living and modern lifestyles mean that those looking for a pet are now choosing a cat over a dog. Only seven per cent named dogs as a person's best friend, compared to 37% naming the cat. Reasons for liking cats include: affection: 57% of respondents said they were affectionate, independence: 49% of respondents preferred their independence, cleanliness: 46% liked cats' cleanliness , exercise: 27% liked not having to walk a cat, low maintenance: 24% said cats were low maintenance. The research was carried out by Cats Protection.

I think they say that dogs are man's best friend because they guard their masters, some saving them in many instances, and can do many things favorable to their masters. Whereas the cat just stay there, may be carried as it is just small, but could not do as what dogs do. But it depends, if you prefer cats, then they are your best friends.

Well I simply love my cats I have 3 of them. There names are Molly Maggie and Blackie. I dont have children so I treat them like they were my kids. My husband says they are so spoiled.LOL But I dont care. If Im sad or upset about something they always make me feel better. cats are alot easier to take care of too.

you are right in a lot of ways.. Cats are much better and safer pets.. Most of all I find they like to play more and are more fun to be around. They are a very clean animal as well.. However, they do no like to be laughed at when they are forced to wear glasses..

well, if you like cats more then its ok to call them your bestfriend... i treat my cats my children, i have 2 female... i still see dogs as man's bestfriend although i agree with you that they are more prone to rabies than cats and they bite immediately to strangers unlike cats who run away when they see a stranger approaching them... i love my cats alot! ;)

I love cats, I live in the country and have at least 25 cats!!
