Well, it's official. For the first time in my life I am self conscious about my weight. The problem is my tummy. I have three kids that keep me active, but I have noticed since I've stopped smoking and quit waiting tables to devote myslef to my desk job, where I munch throughout the day I have gotten a tummy! To the point of where I look like I'm a couple months pregnant. My pants are getting snug and my family is making remarks. This is the only part of my body where I have any weight gain! Can anyone give me some tips on how I lose this, preferably kinda rapidly so I don't have to go out and buy all new summer clothes?

You saw my tummy photo right? Well for the last few years, i've had this pouch, i hated it, and haven't been able to get rid of it, but how'd i lose most of it? my dancing, just throw on some music that you get the urge to bounce, and even if your sitting at the computer just dance, hold that belly in tight, and dance away, also something i started doing daily since i decided to stop smoking, hook my feet under something like the dresser or couch, somewhere where you can get a good grip and not have to lift those feet, i do it a few times a day, just do sit ups, but remember to keep that back straight, or you'll wreak it, use your tummy to pull you up, don't hold your neck or your back, if you need to your doing it wrong. This helped me too, it's also helping strengthen my back in different areas again, and also by doing twist crunches in the same position is toning my hips in a way i like :P Oh, another way to bring that tummy in, here's something i've been doing for years. Lay on your back, hold something with your hands, above your head. Lift your legs off the floor and up and down, don't let them go too high, don't let them touch the floor. If you feel it in your tummy, your sooo doing it right. Hope this helps hun, it really works wonders on me, since that pic, i've gotten tinier, the way i see it, I'm gonna finish toning these lines on my tummy, i don't want a 6 pack, but the lines on the sides are nice, and then I'll just do it once or 2ice a day to keep it up, and you don't need to change your diet, or even work out for long periods of time, i'm just doing it little by little. Eat what you want, i have never changed my diet, i eat when i eat, i eat what i eat, and i drink what i drink. It's healthier and better for your metabolism if you snack all day every day than it is to eat 3 solid meals a day, so don't worry, i think your on the right track, and don't worry about cutting out coffee either, i drink 2-3 pots a day, and it doesn't make a difference. Oh, if you want something with structure, get Turbo Jam, I bought it months ago, i did it for like a week haha, lost 2 pounds a work out, did it 2ice a day, and i was to what i wanted to be, haven't had to do it since, but now, it's all about the toning.

No offense, I was just having one of those moments. I will start tring some of the exercises you suggested, I appreciate you helping me out!

hahaha no prob hun, sometimes it just takes more... I think the reason dancing helps so much is because i utilize my tummy muscles the whole time, it's like belly dancing kinda... Those exercises should work, as long as you feel the burn and sweat some, you should have no problem with it, it is going to burn and stuff, and the next few days to a week you'll sure feel it, but that's the only way your going to know your doing it right... I hope it helps... The other person there says you can't get rid of belly fat it's self, but from experience, i know you can. You can do it, just keep at yourself.

I hear ya, sister! My third baby gave me a belly that I can't completely get rid of. I was always a kinny minnie with no effort, so it really sucks! Cutting out the snacking at work(and maybe chew some gum instead) may help you? Or go brush your teeth when you get hungry-- then you definitelty won't want to eat those snacks! Also, try sucking your stomch and holding it for a few seconds while you're sitting at yoru desk-- that's supposed to help tighten the ab muscles. You sound like you have a lot on your plate and always put your family first. I have been getting up 1/2 hour earlier every day to go get on the treadmill. If my kids wake up during that time I tell them to go wake up Daddy- 5:30 to 6 AM is MY time!

With 22 years seperating my two last children...I know a couple of things about "belly fat"..LOL I find that eating 4-5 small meals a day, and changing my snacking habits to include more fresh fruits and vegetables...plus 15-20 minutes of sit-ups, three times a week, have provided the biggest help for me. I also swim alot...which is supposed to be an all-over body workout. The above suggestion that concentrating on holding your stomach muscles in and then relaxing them has some added benefit...in that it works the muscles to a point but it also reminds you to "use proper posture". Once you get yourself into the habit of sitting with your hips squared with your shoulders and your stomach pushed back toward your spine; it becomes a habit after 30 days of the same activity. I also tend to agree with the response above that stated you can cause many problems by "the crash diet" mindset....usually it ends up having the reverse affect...we "reward" ourselves with the thing we were trying to avoid-"poor food choices". I wish you the very best of luck with this....if you were closer we could exercise together...wouldn't that be fun, my friend???? Have a blessed day!!!
