Actually I don't use anti-virus software. Although I know nowadays there are quite a lot of computer virus and they cause many troubles. However, sometimes I think the anti-virus companies are the source where the computer virus comes from. As nobody will have so many spare time to create computer virus and this job is non profit. On the contrary, the anti-virus companies can make money if they creat some new computer virus. Now I don't use the anti-virus software, but my computer seems to work better.

Give it time and I think that you will find your computer not working better. You make some valid points but it is better to be prepared than not. My daughter downloaded some things from myspace a last year that all but fried my computer. But between AVG and AVAST and some anti spy ware apps I was able to get it back up and running but it was definitely damaged. Not a good choice. Get some anti virus software. I recommend AVAST which offers a free edition that is effective.

Impervious is right. You may be glad of your antivirus one day. Not being prevalent and not being present are two different things. The bottom line is that the danger is always there, and you should take precautions to defend yourself against it. Avast! is a competent, full-featured antivirus with better heuristics than the more popular AVG, although the annual re-registration may be a bit of a turn-off for some. Personally, I prefer an antivirus that can catch up with zero-day threats as quickly as possible. I use CyberDefenderFREE.

Dude, if you are aware of the threats that roam arund on the internet. Then why dont you just install a software to get yourself protected from it. And hackers dnt need any profit, most of them do it for fun. And if i may infom you that. There are things known as Trojans. Hackerrs use them to get personal information out of your computer. LIke email passwords, bank a\c numbers and anything that you have stored on your computer. So, its wise to just install a Anti-Virus software. You dont need to purchase it. there are a ot of places where you can download it from.

I downloaded Norton after reading your feedback, but it's only a trial version version for 15 days.
