kfc - KFC : fried chicken and potato fries
we indonesian eat KFC chicken with rice. But the rice is not fried. just white plain rice. they (indonesian KFC) even put it into one package, 1 fried chicken, 1 rice and 1 soda. in the cheap prize. but i don't like this package, i prefer the package which they have fries on it.i thing, i can eat white rice all the time at home, why should i eat rice here in KFC?

we filipinos are so used to eating friend chicken with rice. imagine the dismay if you enter a KFC and order fried chicken only to find out that they do not serve it with rice. tha'd be most awful! but hey, the Bangkok KFC i've eaten at served chicken with rice. i just can't remeber if they have the originial recipe since Thai people are so fond of spicy foods.

I think rice would go over pretty well in the States. Mashed potatoes is their big side dish, but I don't like the way they taste. They're powdered and taste like it. I know fried chicken & mashed taters is a big southern thing, but I think rice would do just as well in the rest of the country.

Oh Philippines KFC is serving rice too?. You can get KFC with rice serve at any KFC in Indonesia. As the saying goes for Indonesian - "you have not taken your meal if you never eat rice". I think the KFC people know about this saying in Indonesia. So dont you worry, you can travel to Indonesia and still eat your KFC with your rice.

I didn't know that KFC anywhere served rice! lol They definitely don't serve it around here, so it must be a regional thing I guess. I wouldn't mind having it with my meal though!

That is awesome! I like eating my fried chicken with rice. Unfortunately, in the US, they don't have rice as a side order. They serve mashed potatoes, or biscuits. I don't think we'll be seeing rice in their menu in the near future.

hi nurhoney. i think this is because rice is considered a main staple in asian countries like the philippines. i usually have bread rolls when i eat at kfc and i'm quite the opposite because i'm surprised whenever the bread rolls are unavailable and i'm stuck with just rice. nothing wrong with having rice with my kfc chicken but i prefer to have a side dish other than rice. usually i have mashed potatoes or coleslaw. either way, kfc chicken is good with rice or with any other side dish. kfc lives up to its billing of finger licking good. hmmmm... now excuse me while i go grab a bucket of hot and spicy kfc chicken.

It's like KFC tend to fit on the country's gourmet culture. If the country is a rice eating country then they serve rice and if it is a bread or non rice, they serve mashed potatoes. Hey do you know that KFC also has a Java Rice? I don't if it is still available coz the last time I'd order a java rice to them was last year. lolz!

Hi there nurhoney! Well, I was told by my best friends that probably it is only here in the Philippines that rice is being served with our favorite fried chicken. In the US, mashed potato is being partnered. In KSA, it is a biscuit named "KUBOS?" ( don't know if i spelled it right ). This is probably because Asians are fond of eating rice and that rice is far more affordable here as compared to mashed potato of the US and biscuit of KSA. Probably in some other neighboring countries, Asian countries mostly wherein their rice production is sufficient. Thanks for raising such discussion! God bless!
