I was wondering if there are any mommies out there that are following this lifestyle. I started and would love to have some one or ones to share the progress and stumbles with.
thank you!

I have been on the Atkins diet for the last three years. It worked for me because I was able to maintain my weight at 108 pounds for my 4'11" frame. Plus, I play badminton to burn calories should I ever eat anything with carbohydrates. Lately, I was diagnosed of tuberculosis. Everyone tells me that I got this because I was not eating carbohydrates, that's why my lungs got so weak. What can you say about this? I have started eating rice and bread because I am under medication and was advised to stop dieting. But it is really against my wishes. I'm so sad.. but I need to stop the Atkins diet for a while.

I'm not sure hoe tuberculosis works, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't caused by not eating carbs, but I could be mistaken. I hope you get better and stronger soon and in this case I think that your health is a little more important then maintaning your current (awesome)weight. Good luck and wish you the best.

Hey:) Congrats on your success with the Atkins diet. I am actually starting today. I've had a couple friends got through the entire diet (all 4 stages) and they couldn't be happier. If you stick with it and following the stages correctly, it works wonderful. By the end, you are able to eat carbs. It just teaches you how to pick healthy foods and to make good choices. As far as people saying that it is unhealthy, I used to think the same thing until I read one of the Atkins books and did some research on the topic. I see nothing wrong with getting a majority of your carb intake from veggies. So good luck on your continued success and if you were still wanting someone to share your progress with, I'm your gal. :)

When I did Atkins I did the 4 stages, adding little more carbs per week/per stage and it was great. I personally limited my carb intake to about 20 - 30 carbs per day. That was what worked for me, since I had (and still have) quite a bit of weight to lose. The best carbs are the veggies. Thank you for the well wishes and I wish you luck on your success with Atkins as well.
I would love to have you as my 'progress sharing gal' and when you're friends are there to support you, you can count on me.

I did the adkins diet for a while. I did lose about 18 pounds on it but it got to be very expensive to follow. I got tired of eating one thing while my family ate something else. I also tried south beach diet and though it is quite close, it is an easier and healthier way to live. Weight watchers also has a program like it. I cant remember what it is called but instead of counting points you just eat off the list. I think all the diets have one thing in common. Cut out carbs and sugar and eat in moderation and we will all be better off.

I don't want to throw a negative at you. I did Atkins a while ago. It really works if you totally stick to it. Eat one carb over and you will gain weight. It isn't a very healthy way to loose weight. I would suggest Weight Watchers. I started it last week and lost 3 pounds the first week. It is easier to stick with because you can eat so much more. When on Atkins, I got so sick of eating eggs, meat and cheese~ good luck on your new lifestyle.

I think it works even if you don't follow it strickly. I lost 50lbs in about 6 months taking 'weekends off'. Yeah the process wasn't as fast as it would have been if i had stayed on track, but it still worked.
I tried ww and I gained 15 lbs. I followed it to a T, and still gained. I know it's a contraversial issue, but so far Atkins is the only thing that works for me, and trust me, i've tried everything out there.
Thanks for your feedback
