in your country, state, etc, do you think women are given the same advancement opportunities in the working world that men are? Also if you're not from the US, are there equal opportunity laws in place like there are here?

There are equal opportunities laws in the UK but in practice, men come out on top. I'm talking real competitive jobs here in commerce and industry, not jobs in government and government financed quangos where they can play all they want with such issues in their sheltered world.
The government can legislate all they want, but men have been paid more than women in the past and will do so in the future.
You can argue the rights and wrongs day and night but these are the facts in real life, so girls, you must accept it!

yeah i'm thinking that too. it seems like the higher jobs are always turned into male jobs at my company. not sure b/c i dont know who tries for each job, thats just what it seems from my lower position. as long as there are privately owned businesses, i dont think the laws mean too much. here in georgia they have the ability to fire with no reason by law, so even if a situation came up, theres always that way out.

in my country nigeria, there are equal job opportunities for men and women. Though their are some jobs that are generally classified as male jobs etc like mine workers, security services while some jobs are regarded as those for female, which is nursing and catering though you still find exceptions to this effect. All in all i think we have equla opportunity laws for both male and female
