do you respond to discussions that already have best response chosen? If you do, why? If you dont, why?
Personally I do if Im really interested in the subject but very often I don't. I like the fact that I may be able to get best response.
ALSO how long do you wait to give best response with your discussions?
Personally I wait around a month before selecting best response. Depending on how popular the discussion is. If it is really popular I wait ages. So I can get loads of responses and give the actual best best response instead of one that gave me one earlier which may not be the best. What about you?

If best response has been chosen I tend not to reply. Not because I cant get best response but because I think the person has already found what they wanted and what I say isnt going to be read or will be exactly or near enough exact to someone else. We are meant to read all responses before replying and sometimes I cant do that as there are too many. I have only started a couple of discussions but I am not in a hurry to select best response yet.

I always participate to discussions that i'm interested to, no matter it has a best response marked or no. However i'm new here and don't know very well what are the benefits of beein chosen as the best response. If i have something to say, i'll say it.

I don't think the best response really does anything except maybe boosts a persons ego.. Which is ok.. nothing wrong with that.
However, I don't think it makes a difference to what you earn.

Often if i open a post and the best response has already been chosen i will just close it and move on.I wait atleast 3 days before giving out a best response mark longer if the post is still active.

Actually, I do answer to Topics even if the best response was already chosen. I do not reply only to receive a "best response" award. I reply because I want to share my idea with others.
I only choose a best reponse to the discussions that I create if I think that the answer really deserves it. Or, when the Discussion gets no more replies, I choose one.

Usually before giving my response to somebody's discussion I don't verify if the best response merit has been given out or not. Because I am not participating in a competition to find out the best response. And they do not pay anything extra for my best responses. I simply participate if the subject under discussion is striking and interesting to me.
While coming to discussions opened by me I will wait for quite some time to see the responses and then select one. I face some problems in this area. I have not started that much discussions. Out of them only few managed to fetch others attention and response. Most of them are with zero response. I am looking into to find out how I can change the course of things.
fliffy555, I appreciate you for starting this discussion.

I haven't started many discussions, and the ones I have starte didn't have many replies, because these weren't that inetersting. As for the topics which alread have mbeen marked best response, I do post in them. I do not post for best response, I post to give my view.. Sometimes, my view, though it is not a best response, helps the person.
So, I even encourage people, to post in your views, because your views might help the person, or interest him. Do not go after looking whether it has the best response or not.

I do. If I see a discussion that interests me or I think I may be able to help in any way I respond even if the best response has already been picked. i just try to give the best response I can and if I get a best response than that is a bonus.
